Literature What are you currently reading?

So I just finished the audio book, Margo Has Money Troubles. It was great

To sort of illustrate how great it was, towards the end, I was listening to it in the car and started cheering.

They made it into a TV series on Apple TV. My sister watched it and hadn't read the book. She recommended it to me. I've started it but hasn't got that far. It IS very good.

I might have to check out that series as I need new shows since my regular network shows are all ending their seasons.

I just finished volume 6, "Byzantine & Renaissance Philosophy" in the "History of Philosophy Without any Gaps" series and have moved on to volume 7, "Africana Philosophy." This series attempts to fill in many gaps left out of other philosophical histories, most notably many usually excluded groups, including women, of which there were far more than usually discussed. For example, volume 6 included entire chapters on Anna Komnene, Christine de Pizan, and numerous Italian women humanists. It also discusses elements of the larger culture around the topic that led to that society's type of thinking. I've enjoyed all 6 volumes so far. Volume 8 arrives in July.

I read a lot of Asimov's robot books a very long time ago! With all the advances in technology, it might be a good time to re-read them! I really liked those books!

Yeah, of course he got a lot of the tech very wrong, but it doesn't matter for me :)
I just love the whole story arc and the fact that Daneel is there throughout :)

I read a new James Patterson and Mike Lupica book called "The Hampton's Lawyer." This is book three of a series and I liked it so I will get the first ones. It's about a tough woman defense attorney who is defending a man accused of murder. She had previously got him off a murder charge in the past. There's good characters, action with mob involvement, and courtroom drama.

Today I read "The Merge" by Grace Walker. This is her first novel. It's a terrifying vision of a future world devastated by climate change, divided into a society of Combines and Anti-Mergers. The Combines are two people who have merged consciouses into one body. A young woman is horrified watching her mother fall into dementia and enters the controversial program to "merge" to "cure" her. There's a lot of family drama and devotion as well. Very interesting, heartbreaking, and scary as nothing is really what it seems. Fast read.

This afternoon I read "Platform Decay" by Martha Wells which is the latest in the Murder Bot series. A fast and fun read! Murder Bot is on a rescue mission and of course chaos happens. These books are really enjoyable!

I just finished the first book in a new sci-fi/fantasy/dystopian/romance called "Seek the Traitor's Son" by Veronica Roth who wrote the "DIvergent" series. I hope she writes the next book fast! This is a really interesting and complicated story of a future Earth where two factions fight for control. There are warriors and priests and mindreaders and all kinds of interesting main characters. There is a lot going on in this book and I am looking forward to the continuing story.

I just finished that a day or so ago and am on to Holy Chow. I have been listening to some on audio and I love the narrator - he has a great voice and has different inflections for each person.

read Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune - loved it especially as it is set in Toronto and Muskoka, areas very familiar to me

Another one of Carley Fortune's popped into my Libby yesterday and so I read it quickly - This Summer Will be Different - set in Prince Edward Island and Toronto - really enjoyed it. (warning there is a fair amount of intimate relations) It is ultimately about love and friendship and 'finding oneself' - PEI is described so beautifully that it makes me want to drive there this autumn.
