What are you craving?

I cook my oatmeal with water. When I want it extra tasty I add a small pat of vegan butter, Silk soy creamer and definitely sugar lol. Sometimes brown sugar but mostly regular cane sugar.

When I'm being good I add a little almond milk but I always need some sugar...just not as much as when I want it to taste really good. 😁

I’m with you @Raven
For me it seems a bit slimy
I do love oats though, I use them in Nutroasts and cookies or for thickening things
My husband is the same way with the slimy thing. :D

Saying that I had an energy cookie the other day that was obviously made with oats and that was fine.

Popcorn. With melted butter. And nutritional yeast. For breakfast. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm not giving in though lol.

I get a yen for butter on popcorn about twice a year, lol. When I've had it, I just add a little salt and pepper. I do season with nooch flakes, but not with butter. I might have to try that. :D

The texture of cooked oat porridge is probably the least appealing thing about it. That's why I usually just pour whatever liquid I'm using on it without cooking: it stays a bit chewy. But I think the oats I get are pre-cooked slightly in some way- not just rolled flat into small flakes.

I've been buying sprouted thick rolled oats, cook in just enough water for 5 min. I don't get any sense of slimy. I remember thinking that with overnight oats, slimy and goopey

I'm wanting Top Ramen oriental flavor. I used to have that pretty often years back, they were the one vegan flavor. I don't even see that anymore

It's not the texture that puts me off, but the taste. I don't like anything sweet or too many carbs for breakfast. I actually like the taste of oats. I'm a tad surprised that so many adults eat cereal for breakfast.

I thought I would try oats again as I know they are so good for me. I have ordered a bag in my next grocery order and will try it with various fruits. Ocado had an offer to buy five bags of frozen fruit so I will try it and see which one I like best.

@Raven I hope it was a small bag, so that in case "you do not like them here or there, you do not like them anywhere"*, you can manage to finish them off without much bother. But I think oats and fruit ROCK- much better, and better for me, than sugar/syrup. I might be wrong, but I think raisins, dates, and bananas are the most popular fruits for oats. I've enjoyed them with apple or peach/nectarine slices, as well as grapes. I'm sure I'd like them with pear or any stone fruit, but pineapple or a citrus fruit would be... interesting...

If I didn't have frozen berries I wouldn't eat much fruit at all!
I have oats with blueberries or strawberries, very rarely apples and raisins. I love dates but not in oats. Stonefruit is very good, but can't imagine pineapple or citrus.
This morning was oats cooked in water, Tblsp each ground chia and flax seeds, with frozen strawberries. I like adding frozen fruit cause it cools it down so I put in container for work. I some times add sugar.

I've had frozen mango that tasted like fish and never bought it again! I read that could be from it growing in fish emulsion, and some people are sensitive to that taste--I've had edamame that tasted fishy from Aldi once
