What are you craving?

Oh yeah, I haven't seen them in years. I so hate whole foods. I used to so love their huge bulk section--beans, grains, salts, things I've never heard of before. Now it's owned by amazon , so even worse :ttth:.
I also remember Pirates Booty noochy cheeze puffs--I wonder if they're still being made?
I don't know about pirates booty but my Big Y does carry the Earth balance cheese puffs and OMG they are so good. I can't buy them too often because I will literally eat 3/4 of the bag in one sitting and then I'm only left with 1/4 for the next day and it's never enough lol.

When I was cat sitting for my daughter in New York last summer I went to the Whole Foods near her house and I was very disappointed. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the one I had when I was living in New York. I have not been to the one in Connecticut so I don't know how that one is. But it's at least 45 minutes away and I just don't feel like making the trip. We are supposed to get one in the next town over but it's been 18 months now and they haven't even started… Apparently they're having some issues because the property is partly wetlands. But they claim they are going to go ahead with construction at some point.

I've been craving a dram of scotch. I committed to a dry January. It's not really a huge challenge for me, as I am most certainly not a hardcore boozer, but I do love a nice dram of scotch 🥃 on occasion. I think the problem is the routine of having one. I get to that time of the day and think, "hey, I want a dram".

I think this is the case with me and coffee in the morning. I'm strictly a decaf person so I know it isn't the caffeine that I need. It's the routine of making it and sipping something hot. I do love it though. I make the best coffee… It has ruined me for any other coffee.

Oh yeah...I got that issue too. I only have one a day, but it's a quad shot, oat milk latte. I love my coffee. I can't imagine not having it. I look forward to that coffee almost the second I wake up.

Oooo, I will check that out. Cheez-its were a favorite in my pre-vegan days.
Didn't find them by Isa, but this one is easy enough. Can't believe the texture would be that much like CHeese it's, I remember that texture.
My crackers didn't have any leavening, so maybe

I have a WF near me in South Windsor, and I go there only if I can't find what I want at Big Y, Stop and Shop, Shoprite, etc. They have fewer vegan options for prepared food than ever, now that amazon owns them. I used to be able to get some good prepared food there, but the vegan options have dwindled. I can maybe get veggie samosas and the occasional seasoned tofu. And the food always looks like it's been sitting out too long.

Any baked goods that are vegan are pre-packaged, save for a strawberry jelly sandwich cookie. I'm allergic to strawberries, so I can't get that one. They used to regularly have in-house scones, muffins, cookies, brownies...now all the vegan options come from other companies, and to be honest, I prefer my baking to store-bought. It would be nice to get something decent once in a while, though, when I'm not in the mood to bake.

They do have a lot of options for non-dairy and non-flesh protein products, but as usual the prices are high unless it's the 365 brand.

Oddly enough winter is my favorite season. I could never survive in a warmer climate.

It's more of a "we are too cheap to give our money to the electric company for heat" issue lol.
Yes, we r all different, I admire those who appreciate the cooler climates

Ohhhh... I never considered that about Amazon owning them. Maybe that's why the one by my daughter didn't have a lot of stuff. Damn.

Olives... green and black... and pickles… The really little ones, I think they are called cornichons or something like that lol. And artichoke hearts and pickled beets. Lol. I think I'm going to buy some and save them for Sunday and Monday's snowstorm that probably won't even happen.

And onion dip… I have Tofutti sour cream so I'm going to make some, also for Sunday /Monday. And I have unsalted potato chips/crisps.

@jalan I blaspheme quite a bit myself. :devil::devil:

Okay- I do like salt. As a child, I often used to put a bit of salt on my oatmeal instead of sugar or pancake syrup. But I don't like it when there is so much salt on the food- such as potato chips- that it interferes with the actual taste of the food. If you've never had them unsalted, the next time unsalted potato chips are being offered as a snack, you might want to try a few. Of course, you still might find them somewhat unappetizing- but at least you won't have wasted money on a whole blasphemous bag. :yuck::hurl:

I can't think of a single snacky type junk food I'd want if it wasn't salted. I've had unsalted chips and it's a hard no. Pretzels even more so!
I'm now trying not to finish that bag of my favorite chips from Costco, cause I know they won't have them now.

You Devil, you… 🤪 sorry, bland, bland and extra bland!!! Like eating cardboard, though I get we all have varied tastes, just messing with you… ‘my’ bane is hot extra salty English chips or salt’n’vinegar snack chips… funny thing, my blood work says ‘low sodium’??? My ex used to bake bread with no salt and I rather liked it, for a bit, but I’d sometimes sneak off and shake a little salt on the slices… 😝

I hate it when a fav junk food or other is discontinued…

I always add a pinch of salt when cooking oats; that's the proper way of doing it; like the Scottish.
