We Need More Respect for PB Alternatives

When I read the thread title, I thought it was about peanut butter alternatives...:p

Okay- some vegan convenience foods and meat/milk/egg substitutes are highly processed, compared to tofu or white flour. But so long as they're not unhealthy, I see nothing wrong with including them. I also see nothing wrong with someone caring about their own health, as well as the animals they are not exploiting.

I, too, thought it was about peanut butter! 😁

The mere mention of vegan foods turns meat omnivores into sustainable, organic, pasture raised meat eaters only 🙄. Leave the convo and they go back to McDonalds 😆

There are no alternatives for peanut butter. It is a food group all by itself.:)

It's my fault, as I abbreviated the two words as it made the title too long. 👍

Reminds of someone who claimed that Beyond Meat was ultraprocessed so they won't eat it and will eat chicken instead. I reminded them that factory farmed chicken is also highly processed e.g. the chicken are not fed their usual diet and this leads to a very high omega 6:3 ratio, so it would be healthier to buy the more expensive pasture-raised chicken. Faced with paying more for chicken, they decided that they don't care about ultraprocessing anymore and claimed that salt content is how they decide what to eat.

PB&J have been around a lot longer than PB foods. my suggestion is to use the phrase "PB Foods" when not discussing PB

:)
