so i've been walking this vegan path for a while and boy oh boy has it been an adventure

in a place like Australia i find it almost hilarious how the vegan movement is on the rise, yet

there is much hate in the community towards people like me... not sure why though?

then it occurred to me that even as vegans we may inadvertently be promoting hate towards animals

because on a spiritual level if we eat a vegan product labelled as an "animal" such as "duck seitan" as opposed to BBQ GLAZED SEITAN or something other

then we could accidentally be fueling the idea of society continuing the murder of innocent animals by consuming "duck"

what are your thoughts? should vegans be more responsible in choosing appropriately named products?

personally i do my best to eat ethically

~ no palm oil to avoid orangutan habitats being destroyed
~ no almonds due to monoculture farming trucking bees around
~ sifting my favourite vegan restaurant menus to only eat dishes without animal labels (even if i must pass on some of my previously favourite meals)
~ etc
~ etc

looking forward to your response...

and wishing you all a great and happy day :)

When people eliminate things from their food choices, regardless of reason, they still retain the memories of meals and what appealed to them
When I gave up meat I never craved it--I did crave textures, and memories of those foods, and when I began experimenting with seitan that brought those memories back. Shreddiness, that moist fatty chew, the salty savoriness. I knew it didn't taste like meat and I didn't want it to, but it did have the resemblance. I used to try and just say white or dark seitan, but then I'd need to explain it to omnivores, who would end it with "oh, so it's like plant based chicken". There just aren't great words that sound right.
If you give up sugar, or gluten, you'd still call the subs their related names. Sometimes it just makes sense

I remember when saying tofu would unanimously get an "ewwwwww....", today it's just another protein to most people.
When we say chik'n or beef we're talking about the flavors that they;re infused with, not the blood or muscles. Like poultry seasoning is all herbs, as well as Montreal steak seasoning.

I just try and appeal to what makes sense to people. I do like saying I'm having seitan for lunch though

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I would like to see more vegan products with animal names.

How about Kentucky Fried Dragon Wings
or Kraken chowder
or barbecued basalisk.
And you could make it taste really good and not have to mimmic anything cause no one knows what those things taste like.
I also think it would be a big hit with the under 20 crowd.
Maybe we would hear vegan origin stories like, "it all started when I discovered I Love KFDW.

maybe because "tofu farts smell like egg" ? lol :P

i find that slightly relevant and funny for so many reasons

1. that kind of saying is based on the real science that some smelly farts are caused by sulfur compounds, particularly hydrogen sulfide, which produces a "rotten egg" smell... hence the ewwwww remark/response from your friends/colleagues hehehe

2. yes we have thins "chicken" chips in the snack isle and without checking "fussy vegan app" then all the ingredients are vegan as per everyday terms that a general person would be aware of as either vegan or not... and yes, i too do agree that they taste like "dill chips from latvia" #herbsnotchicken ")

3. have you ever walked past a seafood market? do you ever smell something akin to urine in the air? #foodforthought

and yes, seitan salads i've often enjoyed

have a great day and until next time :) #stayhappyandwell

i kid you not... i bought a bag of "self raising flour" when living in QLD of AUSTRALIA and threw it in the river

not only did i feel like my aura or internal air increase in strength and vitality for about a day or so... heaps of fish simply appeared in the river too :)

lol this kind of thing seems to be becoming more and more prolific and diverse, so much so that many alcohol companies for one include animal images as their mascots... like a naturally fermented chilled (or room temperature) red that i have once or twice have enjoyed to great effect... you guessed it, fish logo hahaha

well, that theme has kind of continued with me ever since then... as just the other day a heap of eals appeared in the lake as i walked past just the other day (GLEBE SYDNEY AUSTRALIA)... and about a meter long fish looking approximately 30cm in width in the waterways of the parkways of the city i'm currently residing in (CENTENNIAL PARK RANDWICK AUSTRALIA)

kind of a long intro and fun trivia

although you never know

if that type of thing is common, then yes we could be of positive assistance to bring animals back through the veil from spirit form into physical matter by simply using interesting logo... like a sea dragon or even flying dragon as you would suggest :)

or maybe "the devil" would like to resurface? :P

Ah.... no. No one has ever mentioned tofu farts, or tofu smelling like egg, except you! What I was getting at, is in years past many people made fu of tofu, and all soy products, because of false statements of estrogen, but mostly looks and for being weird. Now no one bats an eye when you say tofu. My point was someday what we refer to as 'vegan xxx' will also come to be accepted .
If tofu gives you farts that smell of eggs....maybe best you avoid it
Meats are the number one smelly gas producers, for sulfur compounds you mention.
