Tube feeding

welcome to the forum and although we love to help others, I don't think you are going to find very many experts on this specific topic here...

I did ask Google and it's AI came up with the following...

Compleat® Standard formulas are plant-based and vegan* standard tube feeding formulas with soluble and insoluble fibers to help support digestive health. This wholesome plant-based formula also has a delicious vanilla flavor for tube feeding or drinking!
I would recommend speaking to a local plant-based doctor or their primary physician.

Stands up and raises hand,

When I was being treated for cancer ( tumor on the base of my tongue), it was inoperable and I was treated with radiation and chemo. Half way thru, my esophagus became so inflamed from the radiation I could no longer swallow and had a G - Tube installed.
I hadn't brought it up but my Dietitian knew I was vegan and bent over backwards suppling me with liquid nutrition for my G-Tube.
This was 5 years ago and there might be other alternatives now but back then there were just 2.
As @Emma JC said there is Compleat, which I think is the best seller and easy to find.
My RD got me a case of liquid hope that we thought was better nutritionally.

Also, I just want to add. before my order for Liquid Hope came in, I just went to the store and bought something like Ensure. Just to did me over. Any of the liquid meal supplements will work.

And at first I didnt' have a pump thing, and I had to do it by hand with these giant syringes. it was terrible time consuming . and also I had to set the food pump pretty slow so I wouldn't get heart burn - and there weren't enough hours in the day to get all my calories.

I was supposed to get a back pack but there were supply issues. but for long term that is what you want. Anyway I gotta go now but if you want to talk more - send me a PM.

Thank you both for your kind support.
Our doctor did not like the prepackaged food. He wanted me to prepare it fresh from normal foodstuffs. I use sprouted beans and seeds, nuts, fresh veggies etc. We call it congee mix here in Hong Kong. I want to learn from the experience of others. Does anyone else make their own tube feeding diet?

That makes sense. but no one suggested that to me.
IMHO, the main drawback would be time and effort. Are you well enough to do that.

does your doctor have recipes? if not I would ask a dietician.
I mean really you could use anything to make it - you don't have to worry about what it tastes like.
but you do want it to be nutritionally complete. that's what the commercial brands have going for them - they are made to be nutritionally complete.

I just did a google and there are lots of sites that have recipes and recommendations regarding food safety.

That is still in the works.
ok that sounds right. I thought that it might have been too much effort. Especially at first. In the meantime see if you can get some of the other brand: Liquid Hope.

Also I don't know where you are with the mechanics but IMHO getting a food pump should be a high priority. And if possible a back pack for it. Those things will give you more time, freedom, and mobility.

Many years ago there was a young girl on YouTube who went documented all her steps. She eventually became a RN. I'll see if I can find her videos.
