I have been happy to forego driving as I have read how many insects are killed per mile and I believe this is unnecessary

I have 3 children who can’t drive and mother and wife-to-be who can’t drive so I am now hiring an electric car for a alday or two each month for their interests, which do not go that far to include wild insects.

I struggle to rationally discuss this as my views on insects seem very un mainstream. My research says road kill including insects is colossal worldwide and much more than other death tolls including pesticides.

I wanted to start a post here to discuss this rationally

Hey @Col
I sympathise with you on this…
As I am gardener and someone who is deeply interested in Biodiversity I too share your concerns…
Due to the cost of owning a vehicle I sold my last one back in 2019 and haven’t driven since…
However, I do take public transport and yesterday I was looking at the windscreen of the bus - I was sitting on a double decker in the front - and it was Terrible to see the Quantity of dead insects!
I have no solutions, but I wanted you to know that you are Not alone in this view…
Thanks for sharing and caring
