UK The Vegan Society

OMG! I'm very grateful we have an organisation such as the Vegan Society.

Claiming that veganism is a risk factor in terrorism radicalisation would be similar to claiming, for example, that being Muslim is a risk factor. That's absolutely crazy, and it just reflects how biased authorities can be against minorities if not held to account, even in a relatively tolerant society such as the UK.

Please join and give your support the the Vegan Society. The movement is every growing but still needs your support.

November is a big month for The Vegan Society. We are the world's oldest vegan charity, which started in November 1944 when our founding members coined the word ‘vegan’. The first World Vegan Day was created to mark the 50th anniversary of the society, held on 1 November 1994. This was later extended to become World Vegan Week and, as we now know it, World Vegan Month. Every November, World Vegan Month is celebrated worldwide as a time to shine a light on the vegan movement.

On Wednesday 3 June, The Vegan Society will be hosting a Lobby Day in Westminster,
at which supporters can meet their MPs to seek their backing for a food strategy that really supports plant-based food and diets.

With the government developing the action plan for its food strategy right now, we have a critical opportunity to push for lasting change. You can help achieve this by talking personally to your MP. If you can make it to Westminster, you’ll be joining The Vegan Society's policy team and like-minded supporters for an exciting and positive day.

On our Lobby Day, we’ll be urging MPs to support the Ten Point Plan by calling on the government to promote plant-based foods within its food strategy. Together, we’ll make a compelling case for the need to shift towards plant-rich diets and away from animal agriculture in the UK.

You don’t need any previous experience of talking to MPs. We’ll provide resources, training and support ahead of time and on the day, so you feel confident in making your voice heard.

If coming to London isn’t possible, you can still support us by meeting your MP in your own constituency at one of their regular surgeries. Please let me know if you'd like some guidance in doing this, as I can provide information on what to say.

Take Action

If you’re interested in taking part and want to find out more, please email us at policy@vegansociety.com. We’ll send you back more information about the day and you can decide whether you’d like to join after that.

In your email, please just tell us:

    • Your name
    • Your MP’s name
    • Your constituency
    • Whether your current preference is to come to London or visit your MP in your constituency.
