TV & Film The TV Room

Re: Humans. Any spoilers, put in spoiler tags please. Matt Roush in TV Guide raved about it, calling it an instant classic and giving it 4 ½ out of 5 stars. It’s premiering on this side of the pond on AMC on Sunday, June 28 at 9/8c. That's my birthday! If I like it, it will be a very nice birthday present indeed. :D

I just watched the pilot episode of a new drama on USA called Mr. Robot. Instead of watching the live airing (which will start in 15 minutes), I actually watched it on Video on Demand, where it was already available for viewing, with no commercials at all. It’s actually better without commercials. The pacing kept me on the edge of my seat for 65 minutes. OMG I loved it. I’m definitely in for the rest of the season, and USA has just ordered a second season, even though tonight is only the first season premiere date. I hope the rest of the episodes live up to the promise of the pilot.

New series of True Detective has started. Been waiting for this! One episode in & no clue what is going on...i'm assuming everything links together in some way. Intriguing.

^ Do you think it seems as good as the first series so far? I haven't seen it yet. I read a review saying that the female character was very good but that they have taken out all of the occult elements in this new series. I didn't want to read too much as it might have had spoilers.

Really hard to say at the moment as the storyline hasn't got going properly...it was an introduction to the various characters. It seems quite dark & the acting is brilliant. Even if it's not as good as the first one, I think it's going to be a very good watch anyway. :)

Wow this show is riveting! Thanks for the recommendation, I am in the middle of Episode 1. The only bad thing is that it is new, so no bingewatching. :)

Interesting how different shows appeal to different people. I tried watching Mr. Robot and couldn't get into it at all. Boo. I wanted something new to watch. :(

We've started watching a show on Netflix called Granite Flats. Quite like it so far, it's set in a small US town just after the Korea war, about three kids trying to do a science project. It seems fairly family-friendly, not much in terms of gore or violence.

OMG! OMG! OMG!

Just watched the first episode of Humans. It was amazing. Earth-shattering. Totally blew my mind.

Wow. This is going to be the show to watch for ... a while. Recommended. Definitely.

Bonus points if you recognise the mom in the family.

(Note: this viewing was enhanced with red wine and biscuits with Violife cheese.)

I loved Humans, can't wait for the next episode.

Oh! I shall give humans a watch. It's been advertised quite a lot & seems to have an interesting storyline.

I've just watched the first three episodes, and I must say, I found it intriguing and creepy. I'm hooked. :)

And I guess I don't get those bonus points. Is the actress who plays the mom in the family someone we should know?

It reminds me a little of this movie:

Who's seen the season 6 walking dead trailer? IM SO EXCITED! It looks amazing. I did want Rick & Morgan to be friends though. :(

Fear the Walking Dead looks good too.

Scary prospects, really! It's convincing acting on the part of the actresses / actors playing the synths especially.

In a more sane world, perhaps :) She played Jen in The IT Crowd, which was a British comedy show. Of course, since it was British, the thinking was that it would have to be "adapted" in order to work in the US. The result was so horrible they only did one episode which never aired, but can be found on the Internet somewhere ...! Anyway, the original is absolutely hilarious. Recommended, if you like comedy! And Jen is one of few properly funny female comedy characters, even funnier than Elaine in Seinfeld IMO.

Royal Pains is only 8 episodes this season, and the next one. They've cut the number in half. The season finale was tonight. :(

This season of True Detective was absolutely boring me to death, so we've stopped watching it for the moment.

Been into Homeland for a while now. Crazy show. Can't believe how much has happened and we haven't even finished the first season yet! (I know we're late to the homeland party.)
