But doesn’t he have to be convicted fir that to be the outcome ? I just don’t see that happening. Or are you saying that now that he’s been impeached twice he can’t pardon himself?
No one has ever pardoned himself. The constituition doesn't prohibit it so it would have to go to courts. I don't think the courts would allow it. The spirit of the law is pretty much no one is above the law.

I don't think there are any legal consequences of getting impeached twice. but I just heard on Rachel Maddow yesterday that there is precedence for impeaching someone even after he has left office.

There is something else congress can do later, too. I don't remember what it is called. But it only takes a simple majority not two thirds. And if it is passed, it strips Trump of his pension, his secret service detail, his travel allowance, etc. Not sure about the library. I think a Trump Library IS a good idea. It would give prosecutors a good place to do investigational research. :)

Meanwhile...
I don't know if it really matters anymore if Biden would prefer to let sleeping dogs lie.
Watch this and try to keep count of the number of people who should be charged with insurrection.

the other take away here is that we have a long ways to go.

Is anyone keeping track of the numbers charged and arrested. As of Tuesday it was over 70.

Except for the loss of life this could have been a good strategy. Let the Trumpers congregate, let them take selfies and pose for the press, watch them break laws, and then leisurely go around and arrest them.

Meanwhile.....
This makes me sick.

New dictionary word.
Rittenhouse
Verb
To cause oneself harm. As in taking enough rope to hang yourself.

.
Per Reuters news:

"Two historical precedents, both involving federal judges, make clear that the Senate could also vote to disqualify the president from holding office in the future, with only a simple majority needed.

Paul Campos, a professor of constitutional law at the University of Colorado, said that even if the Senate does not convict the president, senators could hold a second, separate vote to prevent him from future office.

That would mean Democrats, who will take control of the Senate later in January, could bar Trump from running for president in 2024 even without the support of Republican senators."

I really dislike this woman. She’s been on the news a lot. She’s very arrogant and vomit inducing. That’s my new favorite phrase...vomit inducing. Lol.

She’s going to submit a resolution to impeach Biden on January 21. 🤨
Just posturing. No way she can get that thru the house. Probably can't even get it out of committee. But she can go back to her district and tell them she is a good lackey. Her district is 70+% Republican.

Wikipedia describes her as a conspiracy theorist. More from wikipedia
She ran on the slogan "Save America, Stop Socialism".[8][9] In the days before the primary election, Facebook took down a Greene video for violating its terms of service. In the video she held an AR-15 style rifle and warned "antifaterrorists" to "stay the hell out of Northwest Georgia".[8]

I was going to quote some more of the Wikipedia entries but its too nauseating (vomit inducing 🤮 ).
she is really a piece of work.

I was watching Stephen Colbert's monologue on YouTube. He has been right on the money lately. anyway I had the Closed Caption option turned on. They never spell out the word Trump. Even though Colbert says it. they use "T****". Like the word Trump is a dirty word.

I hope this catches on. I can really see it catching on in New York.
Where the T**** are we?
Get the T**** out of here!
What the T****!
I don't give a T****.
Excuse me ladies, I gotta go take a T****.
Go to T****.

:rofl::woo:💩

Really good article

Operating under the protective wing of Congress, the Capitol Police has more than 2,000 officers to defend two square miles and a half-billion dollar budget — bigger than those that fund the police departments in Atlanta and Detroit.
But it has long suffered from the same troubles that afflict many other police forces: claims of an old boys’ network, glass ceilings, racial bias and retaliation. There have been complaints, too, of lax discipline and of promotions for white commanders who faced misconduct allegations, but harsh treatment for women and Black officers.

This info is already betting picked up by other outlets. However, I've only seen it being reported on MSNBC so far.

“As fallout continues from the deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol, Ed Stetzer, head of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College in Illinois, has a message for his fellow evangelicals: It's time for a reckoning.”
“Evangelicals, he says, should look at how their own behaviors and actions may have helped fuel the insurrection. White evangelicals overwhelmingly supported President Trump in the 2020 election.”
“Part of this reckoning is: How did we get here? How were we so easily fooled by conspiracy theories?" he tells NPR's Rachel Martin. "We need to make clear who we are. And our allegiance is to King Jesus, not to what boasting political leader might come next."

Just to be clear, the "he" you refer to is Ed Stetzer, head of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College.

Yes sorry...I figured that would be clear when clicking the link. I copy and pasted the text from the article. I’ll go fix it. 😊

Image may contain: 1 person, meme, text that says 'HI, MY NAME IS RYAN WHITAKER S POLICE THE POLICE WAS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WITH MY GIRLFRIEND WHEN HEARD BANGING ON MY DOOR.I OPENED THE DOOR WITH A GUN MY HAND FOR PROTECTION AND WAS AMBUSHED BY POLICE. IWAS SHOT IN THE BACK TWICE AND KILLED BY THE OFFICERS AS ATTEMPTED PUT MY DOWN. DESPITE BEING INNOCENT AND MY MURDER BEING CAUGHT ON VIDEO NO ONE HAS BEEN CHARGED FOR MY DEATH. IS THIS JUSTICE?'

"The deadly episode, which happened on May 21, is part of a string of Phoenix police shootings this year that has, yet again, reinvigorated criticism from advocates who say officers are too quick to use deadly force to resolve incidents."

I guess the police can say that at least the guy wasn't Black AND unarmed.

And not to throw shade on the victim but checking the peep hole or talking to the guys on the other side of the door is a better idea than opening the door with a gun in your hand. But still being incautious or foolish should not be a mortal offense.

Well for a second there I was worried that with Trump leaving office that Maddow wouldn't have anyone to studiously ignore, or Colbert wouldn't have any one to seriously lambast, or Noah wouldn't have anyone to make jokes about.

I guess for a second there I forgot that Congress still has its fair share of looneys.

It looks there is a little bit of a shift in public opinion after the storming of the capitol on January 6th. Before then, his approval rating was 40% in the average poll and it had been a long time since he had gone below 38%.

You can see this here:

After January 6th, his approval rating is in the high 30s% and the disapprove is more commonly in the 60s% than 50s% now.

This is described a bit here:
