Refuse to drink dairy milk

So today a family member asked why can't I buy dairy and drink milk if it's not possible to get my usual oat milk.

I said yes I used to drink dairy milk but I've changed and choose vegan. I told them I refuse to support the dairy industry and that milk has hormones and antibiotics in.

I was told that it won't kill me to drink milk. I said i know but i don't want to. That I'd rather drink my coffee black.

It was hard for them to understand how non negotiable I was but they let me buy the oat milk instead.

not rudely, I would ask them why they choose to drink milk that is meant for a baby cow - do they drink human breast milk? dog milk?

I mean yeah, SUUUURE it won't "kill you" to drink milk, but like, HELLO!? Something can still be bad, even if it doesn't kill you, or even harm you directly. It's about MORAL PRINCIPLES and that's a thing some people just can't understand.

Well done, I think it is with families that one gets personal criticism but also somewhere where one is listened to. I have had similar conversations regarding toiletries with animal fluids in that may or may not cause cancer, the issue is that animals are killed and used unnecessarily. Actually my family has benefited I think from new brands and have become more tolerant to the idea for which is positive and for which I am thankful.
