They've already starting airing some. Democrats tend to do very well in New York, so I have no idea why they're airing them so early. Have any other Americans seen political commercials on television yet?

Because people in densely populated cities tend to be very susceptible to groupthink, so they need to tell the people what their opinion should be before someone else does :p

I've seen ads for only a couple of local candidates; there hasn't been a flood of them. This is still only primary season, however. Once the primaries are over, I expect to see more of them polluting the airwaves.

In 2012 we in California were spared an onslaught of Republican ads because California as a blue state was seen, correctly, as a lock for Obama. I have no idea what we'll see later this year, though.

ETA: OTOH, for a few weeks now I've been pulling tons and tons and tons of political ads out of my mailbox. I've only kept a couple because they were endorsements of candidates I wasn't sure about. Most of them go right into the recycling bin.

For some reason we don't get much ads in the mail until later. It's much more on television than it is anywhere else.

I live in the state of New York rather than the city.
