Make Music Day is celebrated worldwide every June 21st. Professional and amateur musicians of every sort put on free public concerts. If you go to their website, you can find out if, when, and where performances will be in your area. You can also register to perform, but I don't know if the deadline has passed- I don't think it has. I looked at two different cities in my area that will be hosting performances, and there were more events listed in one than in the other.
