Hi
Sorry if this had been done before but..

Is red food colouring Vegan friendly these days?

I know about the cochineal thing but my understanding was that this is rarely used nowadays? Are the colourings tested on animals still? According to Google research its a yes

If so what do you substitute red colouring with please ?

I buy red food colour that is made from beetroot. If I rightly remember, Sainsbury's and Waitrose stock the product.

Even better cheers! I was just online at Waitrose one , it is Veggie friendly but the Lakeland one is Vegan so now I am heading there instead. I think we have a shop in Milton Keynes . Just checking it out or will order online. thanks again

Lakeland have the most fabulous choice of stuff for baking. I usually go to either the Reading or Windsor branch.
