We drive by this place which is right off I-4 on the way to Tampa. It is a joke among some friends to "check in" as you drive by and say you are having a beer there.

That looks like something I would have really enjoyed as a kid.... hell, I would now! Fossil digs?? YAY!!

I would go there now as well! Maybe someday if we ever have enough money to spare! We went to a park in Port Orange a while back that was a "dinosaur park" in the past and there are still dinosaur statues around. I took pictures which I will try to find. I love that stuff!

Ok I found the pictures from the Dunlawton Botanical Gardens in Port Orange. A really beautiful park with old dinosaur statues.

I think it's fascinating that there were large animals that are now extinct, but that were still extant (alive) as late as near historic times. Some examples: the sabre-toothed Tiger (smilodon) and woolly mammoths. A small population of woolly mammoths apparently even survived until historic times!
