Covid Vaccine-Do You Believe the Scientists?

I don't trust anyone blindly just because they claim to know more than me, that's an elitist scam, anyway how do you propose preventing people from saying these things without violating the first amendment?

One of the lessons of the Trump Era is that not believing credible experts makes you much more vulnerable to elitist scams (or any scams).

I don't take anyone's word as fact without seeing real evidence for myself.

Some people are much more qualified to analyze certain types of evidence. That's a big part of what expertise means.
Yes well they can still make mistakes and lie, I much prefer to find things out for myself.

That's just it--you should never blindly trust anyone who claims to know better than others, but has no credentials, no verified research to back their claims. That site is not a 'free speech' website-it's tailored to the white nationalist extremists like the q'anon cult.
Free speech is protected, but false claims that can cause harm, threats, and in the case of the 2-6 insurrection of the Capitol building, a danger to our democracy. Don't discount how much those with power fuel these offbeat theories! The far right politicians use their dog-whistles to provoke feelings of oppression and form alliances. They can get away with this misinformation campaign, such as the voter count, (and the school shootings, 911, lies about the Clintons....) because there spread by people of no consequence.
Next time you think this is a grass roots movement by those fighting against a world wide threat, think again. Do your research of what else is being dished out by these forums

There can be no exceptions in regards to free speech, you either have total freedom to say whatever you want, or you don't have free speech.

There was a quote here on the VF that seems to be totally appropriate. Perhaps someone here remembers it and can re-post it.

It was something like if someone disagrees with something that 99 others agrees with he must have have 99x more references or qualifications. I know I'm not saying it right but maybe someone else knows the quote.

What if the other people have no references or qualifications? You assume that people base all of their opinions on evidence, sadly most people do not.

Actually there are lots of exceptions to free speech. Your right to free speech does not give you the right to slander. to libel. to shout fire in a theatre.

Freedom of speech and expression, therefore, may not be recognized as being absolute, and common limitations or boundaries to freedom of speech relate to libel, slander, obscenity, pornography, sedition, incitement, fighting words, classified information, copyright violation, trade secrets, food labeling, non-disclosure agreements, the right to privacy, dignity, the right to be forgotten, public security, and perjury. Justifications for such include the harm principle, proposed by John Stuart Mill in On Liberty, which suggests that "the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others."[4]

It's one thing to investigate your local councilman as a roving reporter, and another to delve into viruses and vaccines!
Going down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theorists with no respectability is a good way to get lost!
Science relies on references and qualifications to ensure consistent, and repeatable, results. Science needs to answer to every step, conspiracy theorists only need to put questions in the minds of those who don't know, or don't like, what science proposes
Again, your average citizen can get away with posting false information unlike the people in power that cause them them to feel they're being treated unfairly. Trump so far has gotten away with the Capitol insurrection, as well as Greene and McCarthy..... they had their followers band together

EVERYTHING should be questioned, I don't trust scientist to tell the truth, I find it out for myself.

Do you're own independent research, it's really not that hard.
Yes, I do independent research all the time. But at some point you can only make your judgement based on which source you choose to believe. Based on what you’re saying, every source can be a lie so that includes the conspiracy theorists and naysayers.

1: people don't like to admit it but doctors and scientist CAN be wrong at times, 2: How do you know doctors and scientist are telling you the truth?
Sure they can be wrong. It’s not the same as lying. They are taking the best information and knowledge they have along with studies and drawing conclusions from that.
Look at how many diseases are virtually non existent based on vaccine development and science based treatments. Why would I choose to not believe what they say?
