Compartmentalization

I feel like everyone else does it. I don't do it. I have tried it ONCE before (that I can remember) but I was super guilty then, and even now. Who does this?
Are there good forms of compartmentalization?
Can it b justified?

I had to look it up because I wasn't sure in what context this was intended. I guess my answer is no. Interesting, though. I'd like to read more about it when I get a chance.
