Any time a previously limited food suddenly rises in demand a red flag should be raised as to how it's harvested.
I went from using coconuts as a moisturizer, a bit in cooking, but now I've been routinely been making my own buttah mainly to avoid the known offender, palm oil.
I was ready to buy more when I first checked to see what I should know, and came across this:

I had been looking at a company called Tresomega, which isn't mentioned either way. Their site talks about being fair trade, but not how they're harvested, so I emailed them.
I was surprised that my previous jar, Better Body, from Walmart, was listed on the human harvested site.
Trader Joes, Nutiva, and of course Dr Bronners were also listed as ethical, so for now I'll continue to make my buttah, but also will be limiting my use of all oils, period
