Can a prediabetic eat tofu and tempeh everyday?

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here. I have a question and hope someone can help me. As someone that is prediabetic, can I eat tofu and tempeh on daily basis? If the answer is yes, what is the right amount that is consider safe for someone like me?

I am not fat. I am skinny.

The reason I asked, because I'm confuse with vegan experts on youtube. When I watched physician committee featuring Dr. Neal Barnard. He basically say, go for it. Its good for the body. But when I watch Cyrrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro from Mastering Diabetes they have different opinion; tofu, tempeh and soy drinks are in yellow light area. You can eat, but not a lot. Now, I am not sure what is the right portion because they didn't specify.

Hope someone with knowledge can shed light about tofu and tempeh for prediabetic.
 
I drink a lot of soy milk and I did some research on how much soy it was safe to eat.
If I remember fight it was like 4 or 5 servings a day. So I think you should also stay below that.

those guys from Mastering Diabetes recommend a low fat diet. And tofu all by itself is not low fat. So maybe that is the yellow light.
But I bet you can safely mix it in your diet and get good results....
For instance, you can make a tofu stir fry with lots of vegetables and very little oil and it would be low fat.
Besides all the other good things about tofu it has a low glycemic level of 15 - which is pretty good for diabetics.
Does the Mastering Diabetes guys have a cookbook? Dr. Barnard has the Reversing Diabetes Cookbook.

My advice is to not get medical advice from YouTube or random people on the Internet.

Instead, ask a qualified medical doctor.
Yes, but they are not random people though. Physician Committee and Mastering Diabetes are qualified medical doctors. Dr Neal Barnard featured in Game Changers . Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro wrote best selling book Mastering Diabetes.

Ahhhh.....thank you so much. That explain a lot. Yeah they have recipes in their website.
