We went to the local fireworks display last night. Very nice fireworks. To me, though, these organised firework displays quickly get boring and repetitive. A minute would be enough, but this lasted for about 20 - 25 minutes!

The ultimate firework display for me will forever be what I saw during my childhood: A lot of people in our local community were involved in shipping, so had access to caches of distress signal flares intended for sailors in trouble at sea. I suppose these had an expiry date, so would have to be replaced after a while. These rockets would fly particularly high before they released a para-shoot that enabled them to float in the sky for several minutes, emitting a bright red or sometimes orange light. On New Years Eve the sky would be filled with these!

Bonfire night brings back lots of childhood memories. We used to eat toffee apples whilst the Guy was burning in the bonfire.
