I don't think we've had a thread on this subject yet. I hear heated arguments in my family about this subject. Do you think they exist?

Just looking at it statistically, would say yes there are (or were).

Discovering aliens has it's challenges. The obvious ones are distance, the vastness of space (Just where do you look), and possible technological differences.(They may be so advanced that radio signals haven't been used by them in centuries, or pre industrial, and haven't developed that technology yet)

One aspect that often gets overlooked is timing. In other words, there may have been aliens, but maybe they died out by the time our signals reach them, or maybe, they will exist in a few billion years, but not now.

Yes. I think it’s reasonable to think that there is other life out there in the universe. The reason we haven’t heard from them is because:

1. They’re not advanced enough yet to either understand the signals we send out for what they are, or if they do, they haven’t figured out how to respond.

2. They live so far out in the universe that they haven’t yet received any of the signals we’ve sent out.

Keep watching the skies!

I believe they probably exist. I do not believe there is any evidence proving this, or that any of the many reported sightings are legitimate.

It seems that every book done about the subject feels the government is hiding stuff. There's no reason they'd have to hide something if aliens didn't exist. A definite yes from me.

I believe they exsist. It would be very strange if we where the only living creatures in the universe.

Sometimes I think of the Calvin and Hobbes comic. The proof that there are intelligent creatures in space is that they haven't taken contact with us. Since humans treat the planet not special pretty...

But long distances and lacking tecnoligy are more likely reasons that they haven't been here. Or that they are so different from us that they have no need or interest in searching for other planets.

It could well be that what they are hiding has nothing to do with aliens, but that it is convenient for the government that the population believes Earth may be visited by aliens and extraterrestrial spaceships. E.g. advanced, cutting-edge and top-secret aircraft technology can easily be confused with extraterrestrial spaceships. So therefore it is in the government's interest that the belief in visits from extraterrestrials is alive and well.

They estimate maybe tens of billions of solar systems. The belief that we're the only life out there seems arrogant to me. I expect creatures would look much different in other planets but I just have to believe that there is a lot of life out there somewhere. This would increase the chances that aliens do exist.

Definitely, but existence doesn't necessarily mean they are currently visiting Earth. And even if they are, the governments can still make use of the widespread belief in extraterrestrial visitors for their own nefarious purposes.

I voted yes, and then realized to be scientific I'd have to go with Undecided.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I sincerely think it's foolish not to believe that life in basically every form it could possibly take exists somewhere.

One of life's big mysteries is Egypt's pyramids. Technology is believed to be very poor during this time, making it impossible for the pyramids to be created. Is it possible some other life form such as aliens helped create the pyramids?

Everything is a mystery... until it's solved. The existence of the unexplained doesn't provide proof of anything. Again, I do believe there are probably aliens, but it's just an educated guess. As far as data, the proof that is available easily falls apart under skeptical scientific analysis.

But that's what they want to to think...:p

I do, of course, mean that alien life exists elsewhere, in other solar systems (or maybe unintelligently in our own).

I can state with reasonable certainty that we've never been visited.

When aliens see Earth, they think 'that's somebody else's problem', and they can see us. They are probably as surprised as us when they fly by our planes....:)

OR...maybe some "aliens" are actually our surviving ancestors and or evolved animal friends, companions making an attempt to help us from afar....sorta like back to the future... Sticking up for us so that we are not destroyed due to our barbaric ways and/or allowed to annihilate ourselves.
... Education may be the key they...our defenders.... would say about the human race
how could these creatures ever change the others would say....
I hope that perhaps
there is a group called PETH.... People for the Ethical Treatment of Humans...[emoji89]
