We have a really nice independent cinema in Sheffield and since I have nothing better to do I have been watching lots of films... I've been enjoying a few films subtitled in English, and I thought it'd be nice to have a place to discuss them here. Also in my experience, I prefer to watch original versions of films with subtitled than re-makes in English.

I don't know much about film... so my reviews are basic, but hey I enjoyed them!

So... I thought Wadjda was really interesting, the first film to be wholly recorded in Saudi Arabia about a girl who wants to ride a bike, I was fascinated by the culture/tradition/way of life shown in the film.

I watched Snabba Cash (Easy Money) yesterday, a Swedish film, which I really enjoyed - I thought seeing family life/criminal life side by side was good and the ending was really good, not what I expected.

A while ago I watched Kapringgen (A Hijacking), based on the true story of a Danish crew hijacked by Somali pirates which was one of my favourite stories in a long time, very sad, very gripping.

Thanks for these! I am going to watch them. The first one you posted looks familiar, I may have seen it. I like films from other places so much, but can't stand dubbing in English. I'm ADD, so in my case subtitles are really fun and make it somehow easier to watch. Multiple sensory input or something. :)
