Whisky drinkers? Which is best?

I'm not a whisky drinker myself but I'm looking to buy a bottle as a gift for my parents at Christmas, they usually have a tipple of your everyday brands (bells, grants etc).

My budget is upto £40 for a decent bottle, any advice?

If my math is correct, that's close to $70 Canadian. I love whisky and usually have a wee dram every day myself. For that price you will find a decent quality whisky, but likely nothing older than 12 years. If you want to get into the 15 year old whiskies, you will likely have to spend a little more. Probably closer to £60 or so. Anyhow, you can't go wrong with a traditional name like Glenfiddich or Glenlivet, which are both 100% vegan, if that matters. Their 12 year olds are about the price range you're seeking.
