What's in your Garden (& Indoor Plants)

I have a lot of work to do to re-fresh my little garden area. The big freeze did a number on my plants. I also have to replace some potted plants that I had for years. I am planting mostly native plants for the pollinators and I have a few that I will plant in the ground after I get some more and decide how to arrange them.

well, I’ve picked up a few indoor plants from there, and the mix of easy-care options and quicker-than-expected delivery made it feel pretty effortless. The discounts were a nice surprise too, and the care tips helped me keep everything looking healthy without stressing over it.

WAAAAHHHHH! The weather is warmer, so I went to move my two tomato plants out into the garden. BOTH plants sort of broke: they bent over at a midpoint of the stem. They seem to be surviving; maybe they'll just crawl on the mulch instead of being trained up a stake. The main stems didn't actually break- they just bent. I put a stake next to one and sort of tied it up. I'll play it be ear and see how it goes. I haven't put the cherry tomato out yet.

I hope they make it! 🤞🏻

Thanks! They appear to be doing okay.

I also planted out the two cuttings of yew I've been taking care of over the winter; they struck root! But I planted them close to the black walnut tree, and I've reconsidered their location. Black Walnut is one of the trees/plants that produce a sort of natural herbicide. Not all plants are susceptible to it, but yew is one of them- and although they are outside most of the walnut canopy right now, evidently the tree's roots spread even farther than that. If I don't move the yews soon, they'll probably die :skull: and I'll have to start all over again. The good news?... I also have some native Dogwood bushes in the yard- and they can resist walnut. I can propagate them and plant them where I was going to put the little Yew bushes.

It is looking like the other two of my hibiscus that I thought were killed off in the freeze are coming back! I see tiny leaves starting at the bottom of the dead looking branches. One of them had already recovered and is growing back very well so I am happy.

We got our basil plants for the beach. It's been too cold at night to allow for planting outside, but that should change this weekend. I'm looking forward to lots of pesto and tomato-basil salad. :)
