The author has quite the imagination! The other one I read is "Service Model" about robots. Once I get through the stack of books I have, I will look for more of this British author's work.

I read another Rosenfelt Andy Carpenter book called "Who Let the Dog Out?" It was another good one with murder, conspiracy and courtroom drama. These books are always a quick fun read.
Now I have two books to pick up at the library to add to my stack. Return two and pick up two.

I am reading a new author - historical romance with a twist I haven't read before and I am enjoying it very much and apparently there is a whole series ahead - Darius by Grace Burrowes.

I read "Celebrity in Death" by J.D. Robb. It was another good thriller with murder on a movie set. There were lots of references to a former case which was annoying. I have to find the previous book now. Reading a series out of order is not always a good idea but challenging when there are so many.
thank you for the reminder - I discovered there are two more, in the series, for 2026 and so joined the waiting line for the hard copies from the library as it is many many months wait on Libby - I do not have reading glasses and so find it very difficult to read the normal size print and so always order the Large Print copies, when I can and the great news is that the line for those is always shorter

I read "The Secrets We Hide" by Karin Slaughter. This is the second book I have read in this series and I really like the characters and the writing so will read more. The main character is Emmy a 42 year old woman who is the sheriff in a small Georgia town where there are "dynasty families" that control everything. Her father was sheriff before her and her son is a deputy. This book deals with domestic violence and can be disturbing. The character development is really compelling as these people are so real and face some very challenging events. There is murder and conspiracy and lots of emotion. Good read!
After rediscovering the local library, I realize that I could surround myself with more books than I could possibly ever read. There are worse problems.

-The Way the World Works by Nicholson Baker
-The Lynchings in Duluth, 2nd Ed by Michael Fedo
-Spinoza's Ethics by Beth Lord
-White Holes by Carlo Rovelli
In parallel, I'm also reading volume 8 of "The History of Philosophy Without Gaps" by Peter Adamson. The series has so far worked its way from Classical (Greek) philosophy up to the 16th century Reformation. Along the way, it stopped at Islamic, Indian, and Africana philosophy as well. It also includes many figures not usually included in such histories, such as women, of which there were many, including Christine de Pizan and Margery Kempe. So it does try to fill in many gaps. It's been worth reading every volume so far. I'm hoping a volume on Asia/China/Japan is coming soon.

I've read that too. And the first book in the series. I don't think Karin Slaughter has written any more books in this series, yet.
BTW Karin has written at least 5 Will Trent novels. I've read them all. ( there is also a novella with Will Trent and Reacher but it's not anything special.
She has also written twenty- something Grant County novels. I read a few of those.
One of the things I like about Slaughter's novels are all the twists and turns. I read them on an ebook and don't peek at the "pages remaining " thingie. Once you think the book is almost over something else happens and there are a few more twists and turns. and a few more chapters.

I knew she wrote the "Will Trent" books but I have yet to read them. I never watched the TV show either. I will try to find the first one in that series and the other series too as I really think she is a good writer.

I finally finished "The Secret of Secrets" by Dan Brown. I don't remember if I read "The Da Vinci Code" or just saw the movie but it was a long time ago. I haven't read any other books by him. This new one came up on one of my suggested for you lists and sounded interesting. This was not a fast fun read. It is about a CIA project on brain implants and goes into a LOT of technical and medical detail. There is conspiracy and murder and great descriptions of Prague where it takes place. It's a history lesson as well. It was a pretty good thriller but I just didn't really connect with the main characters. I probably won't read anything else by Mr. Brown. LOL

I agree - I have been trying to finish his The Lost Symbol for a couple of weeks, 30% through it, and can't seem to make myself open it again - just too much detail and even though I am a 'skip-er" it is just overwhelming.

I just read "Dissection of a Murder" which is a debut novel by Jo Murray. It is being adapted for season two of the TV series "Presumed Innocent." This is a legal thriller taking place in the UK so the legal terms are a bit different and it was interesting learning about the court system there. It's about a young woman defense attorney defending a murder suspect. The prosecutor is her older more experienced husband. This book has a lot of twists and the end is mind blowing. I hope Ms Murray writes another book soon.
oh my, yesterday I started a book that I do NOT want to end and I have 700 of 1920 pages left - best book ever, coming from someone brought up in the evangelical world - For Whom the Belle Tolls is the name by Jaysea Lynn - if you have time google her as her story is very interesting and the premise of the book is also fascinating especially as she wrote it in response to her Tik Tok video successes (which are now also on Youtube and Instagram)

I googled the book and it sounds really interesting and is the start of a series. But wow that is a lot of pages! LOL
