UK Vegan Restaurants/Eateries

So, I was in town yesterday and as usual, I popped into Land & Monkeys as I wish to support the only plant based bakery we have. I was discussing some of the pastries with a sales lady and I mentioned that one of the owners told me that he'd like to hear my comments. So she called one of the gentlemen who works in the kitchen and we started to discuss one thing and another. He absolutely wanted me to visit the kitchen where they have the bakery upstairs. He wanted to prove that the food wasn't frozen but made in the traditional manner.

To cut a long story short, he's planning on opening another plant based bakery in Marseilles and he told me that they are planning to open a branch of Land & Monkeys in London. However, as it's not official, he asked me not to publish it on FB. He didn't mention anything about the forum, so here's a heads up to all the Brits that live in the South.

PUREZZA-An ode to the Parmigiana Party Pizza

Slow-cooked aubergine, rich tomato, and melted, golden plant-based cheese. This pizza stopped the room, and won National Pizza of the Year in 2018.

We visited Kokoro in Oxford today, I got tofu katsu curry with noodles. Dishes are only labeled vegetarian, but most of those seem to be vegan and the lady at the counter was able to confirm. Highly recommend!!

From pistachio swirls and cookies to iced matchas and speciality coffee, plant-based bakery Okja has become a favourite among London's pastry lovers. Now, the brand has opened a second location in the city.

One of London’s most talked-about vegan bakeries* has opened a second location, bringing its acclaimed pastries, speciality coffee and signature swirls to Liverpool Street.

Okja first won fans at its original Toynbee Street bakery in East London, where queues regularly form for its handcrafted pastries and inventive drinks. The new bakery, located at 31 Liverpool Street, follows the success of the brand’s original site and marks the latest step in its expansion across the capital.

Known for its laminated pastries and house-made ingredients, Okja has built a loyal following by focusing on quality, making everything from its butter and cream cheese to its chocolate spread in-house.

The bakery’s signature swirls have become a particular customer favourite, with flavours including Pistachio Swirl, Cinna Swirl and Choco Swirl.

Alongside its bakes, the Liverpool Street site serves speciality coffee and a range of seasonal drinks. New additions to the summer menu include a Maple Cereal Matcha, Hojichai and a Coffee Slush, as well as a selection of smoothies.

*Update, June 2026: Okja has confirmed that all pastries and baked goods remain fully plant-based at both its Toynbee Street and Liverpool Street locations. However, customers at the new Liverpool Street site can now request dairy milk in drinks as part of a trial.
