It’s been hiding in the bush the past few years, here at Las Aguas Risas, the first, and perhaps only, Certified VEGANIC Permaculture Eco-Community and Fruit Forest in Ecuador, and possibly all of South America. We’ve now cleared a path to it from the main complex, where you can find bananas, coffee, yucca, berries, peppers, ginger, turmeric, narajia, tomatoes, guayusa, pineapples, citrus, avocados, membrillos, guayabas, guabas, caña, and more.
We are a fledgling Vegan Eco-Community, hoping to grow our membership, offering like-minded vegans an opportunity to experience a tranquil life outside the city where they can grow their own food, living and working alongside other vegans, giving back to PachaMama, reforesting and conserving a portion of Ecuador’s amazon rainforest. There are various paths and options for members, including but not limited to renting or purchasing one of the houses on property.
This house is one of the accommodations that could be available for potential members. Unlike the other 3 houses on property, that are furnished with water and electric service, this remote cabin is a blank slate, perfect for a small off-grid abode. It has 2 rooms, a front porch, plenty of usable space below for bodega or covered screened “outdoor” room, space to extend a small deck off the back side with those gorgeous mountain views. While it does not have water service like the other houses, there is a spring/seep/streamlet nearby, close enough to water all the lovely veganic fruit trees, and garden that an ambitious vegan food enthusiast could plant on the large, relatively flat, plateau immediately in front of house.
The photos demonstrate an example of re-wilding, or “passive reforestation” in action (we’re also planting more native fruit trees along the cleared path, for the community as well as the native wildlife). The first three photos are from May 2, 2026. The fourth is from four years ago, June 2022, just after we purchased the property.
