US US politics 2025

it seems like every day Trump alienates another demographic group.
Serious question. How many groups does he have to alienate before the Republicans in the senate and house realize that they are on a sinking ship.

I'm trying to keep count here ...
Blacks,
Arabs,
jews
Latinos
seniors,
married women.....

hmmm pretty much everyone other than the "weak men" (aka strongmen) and a few billionaires and those that are sucking up trying to grab some of the power for themselves

I watched some of the State Reps in Tennessee yesterday stand up to tyranny and walk out and that was awesome. We need more of that.

The only good thing for we Canadians is that it has united us more than we have been in a very long time, common enemy and all... we don't usually do the whole beat the chest thing or be loudly patriotic and that has now changed. Tomorrow is Flag Day (I didn't even know we had one) and the flag shops are sold out of Canadian flags. So good!!

Shortly after repeatedly advocating for ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, the Orange Menace has now betrayed Ukraine:

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are dead and wounded in a war where they thought they had US support so they could eventually take back at least some of their lost lands. Many of them have died in vain, because Orange Menace prefers good relations with his good friend in Moscow over helping Ukraine win back lost territory.

They would first need to have the intellectual capacity to understand this, and second, the spine to do something about it.

I think a good amount of them understand it, but they don't have the spine to do anything about it. They are too beholden to their greed and thirst for power to have the stomach to take action. I will admit there are some who are probably completely clueless, though.

"Much of the documentation listed under the SAVE Act is based on having a birth certificate that matches the person registering to vote. However, as many as 69 million married women in the United States have changed their legal name since getting married, meaning their name does not match their birth certificate, according to the Center for American Progress."

People are truly stupid to either not understand how far back this admin wants to end women's rights
The attention to ensuring transwoman cannot participate in sports will lead to less than pretty, or 'girly' girls undergo examinations, and scrutiny
Demolishing DEI practices will eventually put womens careers in jeopardy if they're in childbearing years.
Job security after childbirth won't be covered
They say the quiet parts out loud and their base loves it--in this case it was 'womans right to vote should be limited as they're more likely to vote Democratic' (not a direct quote, but the same)e
And yet elon musk would have been lucky to work at a Goodwill store without his generational wealth. DEI practices at least would have given him a position as a technician

I hope it's ok if I also share this here in the open forum:

Why are we where we are at the moment? This is what I found yesterday, and it makes a lot of sense to me. :(

Another very disturbing piece - please watch the video: Silicon Valley's Political Plans

Here's the full video (about 30 minutes)

Short synopsis:

When the video was made, the author (a lady named Joanna Richards, who posts on Youtube under "Blonde Politics") was apologizing for "sounding like a weird conspiracy theorist" in her warning about the worst things that could happen under a dump administration.
Her warning was mainly based on writings by Author Gil Duran, who I have also linked below.

Since we have now seen the first month of the new administration, unfortunately nearly all the things that are described it it, have actually happened.

Yes, in the past, we already knew that Right-wing Christians want to get Agenda 2025 implemented, hoping it would lead to a society as depicted in "The Handmaid's Tale".

1739982905316.png

However, we smiled at it as we are aware they only represent a small part of the voting population.

HOWEVER - we should also be aware that there are Tech Overlords (sorry, but the term "Tech-Bros" is simply not cutting it) who have their own agenda, which is described in this very important podcast.

Those are (incomplete list): Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, David Sacks, Brian Armstrong
(of course, also Bezos and Zuckerberg, but they - to me - seem less invested in this scheme)

1739982927333.png

They have their own target, which is, that - in addition to whatever happens in the rest of America, or the world - they get the permission to found their own settlements ("City-States led by enlightened tech rulers") that are not subject to any laws other than their own.
Ideological fathers of this are two "philosophers", Curtis Yarvin and Balaji Srinivasan.

Balaji Srinivasan calls the proponents of these "enlightened tech rulers" the "Grays", in contrast to the "Reds" and "Blues" we already know.
For him, the "Grays" represent the future, the "Blues" represent the current time, and the "Reds" represent the past.
He suggests that the "Greys" should work together closely with the "Reds" to purge the "Blues".

1739982954811.png

And here is where it gets interesting.

The "Grays" don't really care much about Project 2025, but they realized that they share the exact same targets and can work together. Also, Project 2025 already has an established plan and a base of right-wing people who are already vetted and can take over positions in a new administration.

Kevin Roberts, the head of the "Heritage Foundation" (institution behind "Agenda 2025") famously promised that the "Second American Revolution" will be "bloodless - if the left allows it to be".

So they decided to put their money behind it and install one of their hopefuls, J.D. Vance, as Dump's vice president, and spend money to get them elected.

1739982979198.png

(We know what happened then. They were successful.)

Everything else in the video - which was, at the time when it was made, only conjecture and a dire warning - has since then happened.

1739983006272.png

That Dump would do his best to destroy any government institutions, in whatever way possible, so that at some point in time, the US would possibly give up and allow them to "secede" on some federal lands of their own.

And all that information was put together in a small, innocuous-looking podcast I stumbled across yesterday in a Facebook post.

What is not mentioned in the podcast, is that there is another actor, who is very interested in the demise of the US - Vladimir Putin.
He certainly shares the same goals as the two entities mentioned earlier, and is fully behind Dump to support them.

I leave some space here for more articles on the topic that might be interested for people who want to know more:

In other news, Kash Patel was confirmed today by the senate as FBI chief.

The winners of the Repugnican lottery today were again Susan Collins and Lisa Murkawsky, who were allowed to vote against him without changing the outcome of the 51-49 vote.

One question I have had in the last days and weeks - what - if anything - are Democrats doing right now?
Should we put up a « Missing » poster?

My guess is that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are browsing the sales prospects for « Gaza-a-Largo » and picking out some nice units for retirement….

Those two have irritated me since they caved on the Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court (I know I have said this before, so I apologize for mentioning it again, but it still makes me so angry). They could have stopped it, but like the rest of the GOP, they are cowards, beholden to power, money and greed.

The GOP has the House, the Senate and the SC, so I think most of them feel pretty powerless. I know that one of my guys, Sen. Chris Murphy, has at least been very vocal about his displeasure with the current situation. I'm thinking that behind the scenes, he will try to persuade some of the more sensible GOP members (I know, there aren't many) to come to their senses before Congress becomes completely obsolete. He did a lot to come up with a bipartisan gun control bill that, while pretty weak overall, was at least something. I haven't seen much from the other one, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, but then again, I'm not sure I have followed him on social media. I should double check. He was a pretty good AG before he ran for the Senate, always seeming to fight for consumer rights and consumer protection.

Oh, and this fits, as well.

I have been calling my congressional representatives for the past couple of days to express my displeasure with the current administration and to implore them to work on getting you-know-who and his sidekick removed from office and away from anything related to the government. I know my guys are Democrats and have voiced opposition to all of this craziness, but I impressed upon them the need to work the other side of the aisle to find someone with a spine to do the right thing. It at least gave me a sense of doing something, however small, to register my opposition to this current situation.

Was thinking this should be a thread in itself for more views. People should understand that while overall boycotts are important the impact of having zero dollars in a day cannot go unnoticed!!!
I agree.

Cross-posting this from Facebook.

Salutations once again dear readers! There's no point in lambasting Trump's camp/supporters, the only path forwards if making sure everyone, EVERYONE knows what's in store if the administration is unchecked.
Since when did the right trust the government? What happened to a balanced budget?

From Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut:

“Last night in the Senate, something really important happened. Republicans forced us to debate their billionaire bailout budget framework. We started voting at 6 PM because they knew doing it in the dark of night would minimize media coverage. And they do not want the American people to see how blatant their handover of our government to the billionaire class is.

So I want to explain what happened last night and what we did to fight back.

The apex of Republicans’ plan to turn over our government to their wealthy cronies is a giant tax cut for billionaires and corporations. And they plan to pay for it with cuts to programs that working people rely on. Popular and necessary programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP, are all being targeted.

In order to pass the tax cut, Republicans have to go through a series of procedural steps. Last night, they took the first step which requires them to pass an outline of their plan, but with it, any senator can offer as many amendments as we want. So my Democratic colleagues and I did just that.

Now, we knew that Republicans would largely unanimously oppose them, but we had two objectives here. One, Republicans were forced to put their opinion on record — many for the first time — on the most corrupt parts of Trump and Musk’s agenda. Two, as I’ve been saying, I am going to make every process and procedure as slow and painful as possible for as long as my colleagues choose to ignore the constitutional crisis happening before our eyes.

So what did we propose? We proposed no tax cuts for anyone who makes a billion dollars a year. We made them vote on whether or not Elon Musk and DOGE should have limitless access to Americans’ personal data. We made them vote on whether to protect IVF and require insurers to cover it.

Every single amendment Democrats proposed was shot down. On almost every single amendment, Republicans universally opposed it. Every Republican voted against our proposal to prevent more tax cuts for billionaires.

The corruption and theft is happening in the open here. The whole game for Republicans is taking your money and giving it to the wealthiest corporations and billionaires — even if it means kicking your parents out of a nursing home or turning off Medicaid for the poorest children.
They know what they are doing is deeply unpopular. They are offering a tax cut to the most wealthy that is 850 times larger than what they are offering working people. Oh and by the way, any tax cuts for working people are going to be washed out by higher costs for basic necessities, like health care and food. It’s a fundamental injustice.

Thanks to your pressure and support, many of my Democratic colleagues have joined my effort to do everything we can to make sure they cannot destroy democracy and steal your money in the dark of the night. We are being loud about what is happening. I’m going to continue to grind the gears of Congress down as much as possible to make it that much harder and slower to get away with this corruption. That’s why the votes lasted until nearly 5 AM.

This is a five-alarm fire. I don’t think we have two years to plan and fight back. I think we have months. It’s still in our power to stop the destruction of our democracy with mass mobilization and effective opposition from elected officials.

So we can’t miss any opportunity to take advantage of opportunities to put Republicans on the record and shine a light on what is happening.
And you have a role to play in this as well. I need you to amplify what’s happening, support the leaders who are fighting for you to make sure they can continue speaking truth to power against Musk and Trump’s billionaire cronies, and show up at rallies and town halls. Use every tool at your disposal to send a message loud and clear about how you expect my colleagues to lead and fight in this moment.”
Every best wish,
Chris Murphy
