Israel bombed Qatari just last month.
Yes, but that was a first, I believe? And Israel has been acting completely unhinged recently, so MAGA and certainly Trump himself might be able to write that off as just temporary madness or noise.

some are saying it is not worth angsting about as it is a red herring / clickbait as both American and Canadian governments have been training other countries pilots / armies for years - even if this is true, having the magats fighting with each other is a lovely sight

I've never been to the Middle East yet but I think Qatar is one of the safer, less chaotic Muslim countries considered quite open and safe for Westerners. Doha, its capital, has had an ATP tennis tour event there for years, which you wouldn't likely find in say Iran or Syria.

However, they have also allowed Hamas to operate out of there quite openly. Israel was targeting Hamas with the attack.

The situation in that area is chaotic, to put it mildly- but I remember hearing about that now, and should have remembered it. I just looked that incident up in the on-line news, to refresh my (apparently faulty!!!) memory: Hamas leaders were thought/known to be holding a meeting somewhere in Doha, Quatar, and Israeli jets attacked them. There was at least one death, but all the Hamas leaders appear to have survived.

That's true but just to clarify they have a permanent base in Qatar and it wasn't just one meeting. I believe Qatar is Hamas headquarters outside of Palestine.

Apparently, exactly because of this unprecedented Israeli unhingedness, Trump and his negotiatiors got so angry with Israel - especially because they were in the middle of negotiations including Israeli negotiatiors who now turned out to be negotiating in bad faith as they knew the attacks were coming - that they were finally ready to put pressure on Israel, and therefore make them agree to the current peace plan.

It wasn't the tens of thousands of murdered Palestinians, it wasn't the total destruction of Gaza's infrastructure, it wasn't the deliberate starvation of Palestinian civilians. It was Trump's hurt ego. He was openly shown disrespect. That did it.

No Kings
More protests October 18th
There is a map where you can find the nearest one to you

Not sure if this website is legit or official or whatever though, just found it in a link in a random website, but perhaps OK
Anyone protesting today? Or know anyone who is?

Greetings from Chile. I'll be there in spirit.

in a couple of hours I'm going to walk to the Mall where the march starts. We are marching 2 miles to a park where we will gather for speeches. I know it hasn't even started yet but I am super impressed on how well it's been organized and promoted.

last No Kings day we didn't have the march component but around 2000 people gathered on the side of the road for a couple of hours.
I read that they expect 3000 this time

I'll take some pics

We had a small gathering on our town green. There's another in a neighboring town. They had a great turnout. My cousin went to one in nyc. She's been sending me photos all day of different signs.

Looks like very peaceful protests. Even after checking New York Post, Breitbart and Fox News, even their attempts to rubbish this protest looked rather weak, and mentioned no violence. All I could find after specifically searching for it was some conflict between law enforcement and protestors in Los Angeles. The video here https://www.nbclosangeles.com/ says that the police declared some protests unlawful at 7pm, and told people to leave. The report says that there was no violence before that point. The report says there was no violence or confrontation up to that point, but police complained lasers used against them. Looks like decent quality reporting in the 3-minute video.

However, seems like the vast majority of protests were impressively peaceful, even with an attendance of hundreds of thousands or millions (overall). I bet those of you attended saw nothing bad at all.

The Boston protest was peaceful as far as I could tell. I also didn't see any supporters of you-know-who in my immediate area. At the last No Kings protest I went to, there were several trucks and motorcycles sporting pro-you-know-who signs, and they kept driving around to pass by us several times. It might be that because the Boston protest took place in basically a large park, I didn't seen anyone from the other side. At the last one, I was on a sidewalk of a main road. Still, the mood was positive with lots of chanting, music by several bands, and spirited speakers, including U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley.

I took some pictures but nothing worth posting. My protest started with a 2 mile march to a park. It was a warm day and there were still people on the way into the park when people started leaving.
Overall it was so well organized. Along the route the organizers provided "crossing guards". At the biggest intersections there were cops directing traffic.

looked around this morning for local news on the event and it was pretty slim. Our local paper only reported it before. maybe late there will be more. The big papers had bigger marches to report on. Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose had some really big turnouts.

I also saw on theTV reporting on Chicago and NYC which was super impressive. Even South Florida showed up

The media coverage was kind of meh, with some downplaying the numbers, IMHO. Someone from the NY Times posted that "thousands" across the country turned out to protest yada, yada, yada. Judging by some of the photos, and from what I saw in Boston, I'd guess millions, that is if the online photos I saw aren't doctored, etc., etc. I saw some photos in Hartford, where I would have been had it not been for the Veg Fest in Boston, and the turnout was the largest I've seen for any protest in quite some time. That was encouraging. Those photos came from a couple of friends, so I figure they are legit.
