I remember 2012 as I was living in the UK then.
We had a record low in central Chile a year or two ago. It was -3 and it almost snowed in the town I live in for the first time in 40 or 50 years. It snowed all over the hill overlooking the town, so very close.

I was in the UK in December 2012 and had managed to get from Heathrow to Gatwick by road despite the icy roads. I remember the planes having to be deiced on the runway and my plane being stuck in a massive queue, waiting to take off.
My plane just made it as an hour later Gatwick was shutdown for the next 3 days. It was also a strange coincidence as my cousin was also in another plane on the runway at the same time. He was flying out to Majorca and also was relieved to have taken off.
