The Weather.

I'm with you on the gratitude. Between the people /children who died or are missing in the flooding at camp mystic, Texas and a neighbor/friend of mine who is in the hospital...(she had to have a g-tube put in because she can't swallow. She also lost the ability to speak several months ago. She communicates by writing with pad/pen but she has hand tremors so it's very hard to decipher what she's writing. She won't be going home because there's evidence of elder abuse. She will be placed in a nursing home but she's actually happy about it. She does not want to go home)...I feel very fortunate despite my age related health issues.

I was actually very shocked to hear that there was a children's summer camp near the river bank. Each and every year there are people that die or are swept away because they've camped near rivers. There is always a high risk of flash floods due to storms.

I would never allow a child of mine to do a summer camp near a river.

I would have thought that it was a no no.

It's bright and sunny this morning and rain chances are down somewhat but still in the afternoon and evening forecast. Typical summer weather.

I agree with you @shyvas and I would also never buy a home near a river.

Also agree with the gratitude... when I am in the shower especially I list off all the things in my life I am grateful for starting with running water. We had a cottage for 5 years that had no running water and no electricity and I am so happy we did that as it reminds me always to be grateful. Ever try cooking Christmas dinner for 5 (back when turkey, sadly, was on the menu) off grid? We did have a smoker and the rest of the meal was cooked on the woodstove. I do miss the woodstove, I don't miss the mosquitos.

We are having another mini heatwave which should break by sometime tomorrow so I am also grateful for air conditioning.

Same here. Water is dangerous and flash floods are often deathly as people don't take the necessary precautions. Apparently there were several alerts given out a few hours before the storm.

The death toll is now 81, including 28 children. Why does this have to happen year after year?

Same here on the gratitude. The floods were absolutely devastating. I'm so sorry about your neighbor, too, KLS. I hope she will have some peace of mind at the nursing home.

It feels very warm here today. I have had my neck fan on since after midday. I saw that there has been an invasion of ladybirds/bugs here. I did see one in my kitchen the other day when I got home and thought I hadn't seen one in ages.

It's still hot and humid over here with temps. at around 27°C even though it feels like 30°C+. It's going to be far hotter in the UK with temperatures as high as 34°C in the south.

It is hot and humid outside but at least there is a nice breeze. I kept my curtains closed on the south facing side of the house before i went out and that has made a big difference. I really noticed how much cooler it was when I walked through the front door.

We only hit 79F the last two days. Humidity has been high but not awful considering the temperature was bearable. One advantage of living on the shoreline.
