I am a vegan because of the animals, no other reason. I would like to be able to buy non-dairy spread that has salt in it that I can taste. I would like to be able to buy vegan chocolate that has sugar in it that I can taste. I'm getting a bit fed up with being forced to go on a health trip that I don't necessarily want to be on.

Does anyone know of some yummy unhealthy salted vegan spread and sugary vegan chocolate?

I always tend to find all vegan spreads salty, even the Pure stuff, so I'm not sure... actually I did try Vitalite and that was a bit saltier, you could give that a try?

As for vegan chocolate, I really don't agree! I know so many yummy, probably really not healthy (I try not to read the side of the packet!), really sugary vegan chocolates. I couldn't list them all.

Don't forget our Surprising Items thread and all our 'accidentally vegan' lists on here too. ;)

Thanks Winterfrost. I've tried various vegan spreads, but I like Pure because it I prefer the texture. I know I have a sweet tooth, as I have tried lots of different chocolates and none of them seem sweet enough, plus they are so expensive, the kind of thing I would have as a treat rather than a pick-me-up. I did find a dark chocolate bar in Lidl which was 60% cocoa, but really I would like less as I find a high cocoa ratio brings on a migraine. So I'm looking for a 'milk' chocolate bar that is sweeter. I have had the Boojabooja ones as a Christmas present, they were lovely, but I only got a couple as everyone else thought they were lovely too. :(

It seems to me that veganism is associated with free-from foods, so it's gluten free, sugar free, etc, when I just want dairy free, and I have had chocolate bars that would be fine if they just upped the sweetness.

Well it doesn't take much to melt down the chocolate, add more sugar, and let it solidify again in the fridge?

Ombar is quite sweet, but also pungently coconutty - since they use a lot of coconut butter. If you don't mind that, then Ombar could work for you.

Vego is also very sweet, but it's really hazelnut chocolate. It's like Nutella as a vegan chocolate bar, which might or might not be what you want.

Moo free is sweet but I'm unconvinced about the taste. Anyway, I've just remembered, there was another thread here on the forum about vegan milk chocolate... let me see if I can find it...

Looks like you've already seen the thread though: https://veganforum.org/threads/another-newbie.617

The chocolate from Sainsbury's is lovely, they have a basic dark chocolate their own brand which is really cheap and chocolate gold coins in a little bag in the 'free from' section they taste exactly like chocolate with milk etc.

Hi,
I think from memory one of the Tesco select chocolate blocks is vegan, and that it's not the most dark one (as you'd expect). It might be the 70% ... & their Swiss one used to be vegan as well, but it is dark. I haven't tried these in over a year so please double check the ingredients list.
:)
