The Dog Lovers Thread

In Manaia, New Zealand, a small dog became a great hero: George, a Jack Russell Terrier, stood in the way of two aggressive pit bulls to save five children from an attack.

Although he was significantly smaller and weaker, George didn't hesitate for a second. He barked, jumped in, and did everything he could to protect the children. His courageous act drew the attention of the attacking dogs to himself – and likely saved lives.
But the price was high: George was so badly injured in the attack that the veterinarian had to put him down. His small body could no longer cope with the extent of his injuries.

George's sacrifice did not go unnoticed. The New Zealand Animal Welfare Society posthumously awarded him a Medal of Bravery. His deed was also recognized internationally: The British animal welfare organization PDSA awarded him its Gold Medal – the animal equivalent of the George Cross, one of the highest awards for courage.
A monument was erected in his memory—not for an ordinary dog, but for a friend who gave everything to protect others. A symbol that true greatness often lies in the smallest things.

Travelling by train to the march with mum.

Evie from Malta (the best dog activist) marched for a whole two hours at last year's NARM in London. Everytime activists chanted 'save the beagles', she barked. I walked alongside her (at times) and was uplifted by her spirit.

Apparently, when we arrived at Parliament square, she collapsed from exhaustion and her fur mum couldn't wake her up.
