I encountered a similar experience with a seagull last year, during the hot summer month of July . I and a few collegues gave the mite food and water as it couldn't fly for some reason. The convalecence took nearly 2 weeks.
One day the bird had dissapreared from it's usual place of rest and I assusmed that he had died.
The following day, I went to my car during my break. I saw a bird very high up in the sky and suddenly it swooped down onto the roof of my car. It was the seagull who had fully recovered. The bird stared at me for a long time, showed no fright whatsover, pooped and flew away never to be seen again.

I often think of the little mite that we saved. It never came back so I hope that all is well.
