We need some of these little cuties in Hertfordshire. I've never seen one in real life.
I was alerted to these 3 sweeties outside by bedroom window by my cats sitting like statues on the window sill. Look about center.

I think they're Greylag Geese. Or more likely, a greylag hybrid.
I like identifying birds![]()
Oooh, thanks! I was wondering what they were. Here are some more for you:

(I'm being stupid and can't figure out how to get the images to show in thread without resizing them, which I am too lazy to do)

I like posting from my iphone because I never have to re-size those pictures. OK, in the first picture the ones in the background with the all black neck and head apart from the white part under their chin to behind their eyes, are Canada Geese.
The ones in the foreground have the colourings and markings of greylags but the bill is nothing like a greylag! It was the same in the first image you posted, those there didn't have the bill of a greylag and there was a variation of the types of bills between them.
I've been reading about it on the internet, and most domesticated geese breeds are descended from the greylag, and there aren't really any wild populations of greylags in North America, but there are feral populations of domesticated geese so I think they might be greylag hybrid feral domesticated geese. Now that's a mouthful.
I think that second picture is of a Green Heron.
I might be completely wrong about all of this BTW, I'm pretty OK at identifying birds in Britain but I don't really know about the ones in North America. But I think Green Heron is correct. (At first I thought it was a type of bittern but I couldn't find any species of bittern that looked like it so I googled for bitterns in the USA, found an American bird identification site for the American Bittern and then on there there were links to similar birds and the Green Heron was there. )
lol...I have re-size all my pictures before posting them here...it sure is a pain to do.I like posting from my iphone because I never have to re-size those pictures.
