π Day is March 14th and this year it is very special for people who write dates in the MM/DD/YY format because the sequence will be quite a bit longer than usual with 3/14/15 9:26:53.

So anyone have any plans for pie that day (as if you needed a reason)? I'll be making a tomato pie because I live near Philly but I've never had one and I'm not in the mood for a sweet pie or making pie crust.

Interesting, I had never heard of Pi Day before, but now that you mention it, it makes sense that there is one :)

Pi is a strange number. In earlier times it would surely have been thought to have magical properties.

Anyway, if you do make a pie, make sure to measure the circumference and diameter, and see what number you get for pi! I.e. the circumference of the pie (assuming it is circular) divided by the diameter :)

Will try my hand at a pie in that case [emoji4] - I'm thinking Apple because I'm a baking beginner and its a classic. What pies will others be making??
