I would like to take my sons to a place where they could see some animals up close. Petting a pig or a horse could allow them to form an emotional connection to animals. But, I do not want to support the cruelty associated with zoos. I also do not want to cause an animal stress. Still, I know that many animals like to be petted. I recall a horse that wanted so much attention that she seemed almost obnoxious. I also know that some pigs love belly rubs. (I have a vague memory of a pig wanting a belly rub from me.) Now that I think of it, I remember cuddling with a rat. The rat was an expert cuddler.
Is there a place that I could take my kids that treats animals humanely?
