On this day in history, 74 years ago, the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. :no:

To everybody who is interested in a Japanese perspective on this, I would suggest the manga (comic) book "Barefoot Gen" that was written/drawn by Keiji Nakazawa, a survivor, recounting his personal memories: Barefoot Gen, Volume One (warning, very disturbing)

Thanks for the heads-up, @Andy_T ! I'll celebrate it in memory of the felines I've known and loved.

And thank you for posting about Federico Lorca. I wasn't familiar at all with him, so I'll look up some of his poetry.

ETA: Poetry isn't really my thing, but his was good- at least, what I read. I looked up both the original text in Spanish and an English translation for one of them.
