On This Day In History....

On this day in history, 74 years ago, the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima.

(Article from 2016 from the occasion of President Obama's visit to Hiroshima)

To everybody who is interested in a Japanese perspective on this, I would suggest the manga (comic) book "Barefoot Gen" that was written/drawn by Keiji Nakazawa, a survivor, recounting his personal memories: Barefoot Gen, Volume One (warning, very disturbing)

Thanks for the heads-up, @Andy_T ! I'll celebrate it in memory of the felines I've known and loved.

And thank you for posting about Federico Lorca. I wasn't familiar at all with him, so I'll look up some of his poetry.

ETA: Poetry isn't really my thing, but his was good- at least, what I read. I looked up both the original text in Spanish and an English translation for one of them.
