TV & Film Movie Lounge

I watched the theatrical release of Donnie Darko (2001) tonight and loved it. I can't even explain why I loved it so much... it just spoke to my f-cked up side I guess. It isn't just a film that takes place in the 80's... it feels as though it were actually shot in the 80's and has that sort of feel to it. If you rent or download it, skip the director's cut which seeks to explain everything that is going on. I hate that. Watch the original, which leaves lots of intriguing questions unanswered.

It's a phenomenal movie! One of my favorites. You will never have to doubt my commitment to Sparkle Motion that's for sure!:p

As for M. Night and his production of crap:
I have issues with The Happening for many reasons. One of them being that I feel that it is a rip off of Stephen King's book Cell.

The last two movies I saw were Brave and Snow White and the Huntsman. The animation in Brave was incredible, but for some reason I just couldn't connect with the story. It was good, but not one of my favorites. I did enjoy Snow White. It was visually gorgeous and staring at Chris Hemsworth for a few hours wasn't painful at all.:D

Im enjoying them so far. Hes lending me two DVDs at a time. I have to wait till I see him next, which will be a while.

I mentioned The Prestige (2006) in another thread and wanted to mention it here as well in case anybody hasn't seen it. It's a great film and the ending typically sparks some great conversation. Plus I love Michael Caine in pretty much anything he does.

I think I have only seen him in Star Trek, and Thor. But I liked him a lot in both of those. He's also just a gigantic person.

Chris Hemsworth is visually gorgeous. :p

His brief role as Kirk's dad at the beginning of Star Trek (2009) always has me in tears.

Yup! For being such a small role, he did a great job!

After much bugging from a friend I have watched the first two Harry Potter movies.

I may be hooked.

I jumped in the Way-Back machine tonight and watched one of the films that I grew up watching with Rege Kordic in Pittsburgh...

Anyone else remember this film? That's Susan Saint James there in the yellow frock. :)

Oh yes. Tent dresses and Twiggy haircuts. First there was The Trouble with Angels, then this. Now I have the song stuck in my head!

I was looking for a free movie to watch last night and found The Fifth Element (1997) on crackle.com. Great movie!

You don't need to signup to watch movies there so check it out if you want to watch some free movies or TV shows. I also watched Adaptation (2002) and Stranger than Fiction (2006). I'm sure in time it will become a pay service just like Hulu but in the meantime they seem to be offering some decent titles for free.

Might want to check it out.

^^I don't see a way to get closed captioning/subtitles on crackle. Is there?

Unfortunately Crackle doesn't have closed captioning yet but according to their FAQ they are working on it.

Nolan's best I think (well, haven't seen his debut film and haven't seen Dark Knight Rises yet).
