I'm assuming it's expensive to live there, so this makes sense.

Very expensive and $15 an hour presently would still be hard to live on, in 2020 it'll be equivalent to today's minimum wage, far too low.

I just saw this today, a living wage calculator for the US. Living Wage Calculator You can pick where you live and see how much you should need to live on.

I don't understand how people live on minimum wage anywhere near where I live. People on lower incomes do get tax credits and other benefits but still it must be almost impossible to live on such little money.
