I grew up in Baltimore, so my opinion is probably a lot different than those who grew up in better areas. However, I feel 7 is too young to be at a park alone regardless of the area.

Yeah I watched The Wire... I don't think I'd let my kid out of the house if I lived there, lol.

I agree you can't make kids paranoid. But 7 still seems too young to me to be roaming around on your own. I actually read somewhere once that kids can't judge speed and distance when crossing a street until around age 9.

It really is like that. Had 15 vehicles tires slashed on my street last night. Cops said if we catch them we could do vigilante-street justice, then call them.
