Food Preparation-Tips & Tricks

Here is something else I learned.

How to make strawberries last longer.

Add the strawberries to the bowl, then cover them with vinegar and water at a ratio of 5:1 (1 cup vinegar over 5 cups of water) for a few minutes.

The vinegar removes the bacteria or mold spores that cause the fruit to rot.

When you remove the strawberries make sure to dry them well with a paper towel so that no moisture remains on it to make the mold reappear, and surprisingly, there is not a hint of vinegar on the strawberries.

The smart trick works well on blueberries, raspberries, berries.

I don't know how scientific this is but I noticed that when bell peppers go bad, it starts with the seeds, so it seems logical to me that if you are going to use only half, you should remove the seeds before storing the other half.

Sounds good. I do that anyway.
