I love movie musicals and especially those of days gone by. Which are your favorite moments? This is one of mine:

Hermione Gingold is just wonderful isn't she? And there's Mary Wickes on the right.

I have many favorite moments:

#1: Gene Kelly splashing about with his umbrella and singing "Singin' in the Rain" in Singin' in the Rain.
#2 Gordon McRae singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!" in Oklahoma!

Also:
Julie Andrews singing "Feed the Birds" in Mary Poppins.
Julie Andrews again singing "My Favorite Things" in The Sound of Music
The number "Cool" sung by the Jets and their girls in West Side Story
Audrey Hepburn singing "Just You Wait" in My Fair Lady
Vivian Blaine singing "Adelaide's Lament" in Guys and Dolls
Marlon Brando singing "Luck Be A Lady" in Guys and Dolls
Deborah Kerr singing "Shall We Dance" in The King and I

Actually, these are my favorite movie musicals, and I enjoy pretty much every scene in these movies. But the above listed are some of my favorites from these movies.

And here's a Movie Musical quiz:

What is the name of the person who dubbed in the singing for the female lead in three of the movies I mentioned above?
Who wanted the part of Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls before losing out to Marlon Brando?
Which movie musical is banned in the country where the musical is set?
Name the news reporter and writer whose short stories were the inspiration for Guys and Dolls.
In which other movie musical I listed above does the person I asked about in question #1 have a brief on-screen role?

Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people she calls,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs;
Come feed the little birds,
Show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do
Their young ones are hungry
Their nests are so bare
All it takes is tuppence from you
Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag
Feed the birds," that's what she cries
While overhead, her birds fill the skies

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares
Although you can't see it,
You know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares

Though her words are simple and few
Listen, listen, she's calling to you
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"
