TV & Film Doctor Who (Spoilers!)

Maybe so, but it still broke my heart when he was telling Martha about Gallifrey.

Also, is it just me or is the show sometimes stupidly complex? Though everything is dumbed down pretty good in terms of science, I find myself reading every wiki page and still wondering how exactly the Time War worked.
Sounds like me every time I try to rationalize Ender's Game

I like Tennant as an actor. His portrayal of 'Hamlet' with Patrick Stewart was sublime. I simply didn't like his Doctor at all. Those seasons are the hardest for me to watch. Although, I've been having difficulty after Eccleston left keeping interest in the show. I was an old Tom Baker Whovian and I guess Baker will always be 'my doctor'.

I've never seen any old Who.

Well, that's a lie, I did see one episode of the 60s series, and it was okay I guess. But I'm not going to judge the whole thing based on that, of course.

But other than that I haven't seen any, even though I'd like to. The old series are incredibly hard to find.

PBS used to show the old Baker episodes right before Red Dwarf came on. That's how I was turned on to it

I thought 9 was okay. I like 10 best, but Eccleston was okay. Not the worst. I don't really like 11.

This. I might have liked 9 more if he had been on the show longer. 9 had feelings for Rose, so I think marking 10 down for his feelings doesn't make sense. As much as I love Rose, though, 10's friendship with Donna was SO GOOD.

I've seen people say they like 11 because he's carefree and childlike, but I think he acts like an immature doofus. Not endearing at all.

Don't get me started on Rose. Oh, God. I really do not like Rose.

Alright, break's over. The work waits, to quote Sweeney Todd

It's midnight for me. :P

I guess the bit of PTSD from the Time War was what I identified with the character. I didn't notice him having any feelings toward her at all. The darkness and the bitterness of the character was something that I'd expect from a character that old who had been through that much. That's just me, though. I'm sure you're correct about the feelings, though

Fair enough!

(I can't stand when people try to convince me that The Ponds, who I find to be weak and useless, are Totally Awesome, so I won't try to convince you to like a character you don't like.)

I've never seen the Ponds, so I have no perspective on this.

But now that everyone's saying they're weak and sexist and whatnot, I probably won't like them. :woo:

Though I do have to say I love the Weeping Angels, or at least I loved them in Blink.

I'm not sure if I like what they end up doing with them. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Ditto. Genesis of the Daleks was my first story.

Not a big Eccleston fan (he's OK, but not playful enough) BUT "Dalek" is one of if not the best single new Who stories I've seen.

I'm curious, who else here is an old school Whovian? I started watching PBS reruns around 1984 or so.

"I AM ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE."

"Yes. Yes, you are."

"SO ARE YOU."

:sob:

Of course, he's not, but we all know how that turns out...

Actually, make that most of the DW stuff:

The only way Doctor Who makes any sense at all is to say that time is really weird. Arguing that time in the show is one single, unchanging timeline is laughable to the highest degree. Definitely not a complaint I have with the show.

My bf bought a gadget with the brand name ATMOS. Even has ATMOS printed on the side in big letters. Freaks me the hell out.
