It was just announced that Series 7 of Doctor Who will premier on BBC and BBC America on September 1!

I've been working my way through series 1-6 in anticipation of this.
I disliked Series 6, and hope that S7 is better.

I'd like to talk about the episodes in this thread without worrying about pesky spoiler tags, so if you're not caught up, consider yourself warned!

I'm super excited! I just watched all the previous series a couple months ago and I've been psyched to see what happens next ever since. :pickle:

Really? I liked the overall arc, although you could skip most of it except "Impossible Astronaut" and "Wedding of River Song" and still get the gist. Actually looking back at episode summaries, there were quite a few that were just OK. And one thing that definitely was missing was the "grand scope" of some eps in previous series, like the last in series 3 and 4. But on the up side, nothing that bored me like "Turn Left" or (sorry Weeping Angels fans) "Hush".

Yeah, I think S6 was the suck. It was too slick, too Hollywood for my liking. Even though I've watched through S6 in it's entirety twice, I have to look up the episode guide to even remember what the episodes were, and some of them I have to read the synopsis to remember what happened. So many of them were utterly forgettable.

While I liked River in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, I did not like her character in S5/S6. She is terribly annoying, and I hate that she was/is a regular character.
I also can't wait for The Ponds to leave this season, I hate them. The only thing Amy is good for is looking cute in a short skirt. She is useless as a Companion. There is no reason for Rory to be there at all. While I don't have high hopes for Clara, seeing as she is a creation of Moffat, at least she won't be Amy.

And yeah, I loved Turn Left, but I'm a huge Donna Noble fan. (Actually, I'm a huge fan of all three Companions before Amy.)

I also love the Weeping Angels - I think they're one of the scariest monsters ever. Blink (you mean Blink, right?) is one of my favorite episodes.

So, I am re-watching from the 2005 start and seeing a few that I must have missed. I guess the links to those where broken on the other site or I just missed them. I doubt I will be able to watch all before the new season starts.

I actually own all of the new series and still haven't gotten through them all yet. I'm a bad Whovian

Whaaaat? I thought "Turn Left" was one of the best Donna episodes. And I love all Donna episodes. I feel it really showed her strength as a character. Also, is it just me, or were the Angels scarier when 10 was the Dr? Or is that just my bias showing?

Don't get me wrong, I like Amy well enough, and I like that Amy and Rory are traveling as a team; but after Rose and Donna, I have really high standards.

I thought Turn Left was very important to The Doctor's character/story, and showed how important the companions (generally) and Donna (specifically) were to him.

I also thought the Weeping Angels were
more frightening in their first episode than they were when they showed up for Eleven.

I just can't see anything important that The Ponds have done while they've been traveling with Eleven. Rose, Martha, and Donna were all strong, important characters. What have The Ponds actually *done*?

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of Eleven, either. He's cocky and he's a liar. Ten certainly had moments when he was less than admirable, but I found him to be more likable, overall, than Eleven. I connected emotionally to so many of Ten's episodes.

The only Eleven episode that I Really Like, and that really touched me, was Vincent and the Doctor. There are a few others that I think are ok (The Doctor's Wife, The Girl Who Waited), but I don't connect to them in the same way.

I'm the opposite. I tend to favor Eleven over Ten, but Nine overall is my favorite. I like the cocksure attitude and the subterfuge involved with them. I kind of expect anyone as old as The Doctor to be confident and a bit of a *******. Ten was too damn emo for me, a little too 'Woe is me".

I agree. I liked her in the first series she was in but since then she's got increasingly more helpless and dependent on Rory. And the whole thing about her leaving Rory because they can't have children is ridiculous as if their marriage is worthless otherwise?
But there were other parts of the episode I enjoyed. I Moffat lets the new companion stay being intelligent (it seemed to suggest it was only because she was a Dalek?)
