I think Capaldi is kinda cute.
It's funny because I showed his picture to my mother when it was announced and she was like "GOD DAMN IT IT'S SOME GROSS OLD GUY. Where's David Tennant? Even Matt Smith?"
And I was like, "Mom, the show started out with old guy Doctors. This is nothing new."
She responded with "WELL THAT'S WHY I DON'T WATCH THE OLD SHOW, IT SUCKED AND THERE WERE NO CUTE GUYS."

It's like a personality switch, I should be the superficial one ranting about how the show has changed now and there should be no old dudes as the Doctor anymore and where are the cute guys?
She's a very cool person though. Way better at Pokemon than me even though I pore over strategies every day.

Just saw the anniversary and loved it!
Only a few things:
- Rose wasn't Rose, and that was disappointing as hell. She's not my favorite character but she's a MAJOR MAJOR part of the show, especially as 10 was concerned, and I wanted to see them both back together again and to watch Rose interact with everyone else. Then again, I think we all suspected that no matter how good this was going to be, Moffat was going to pull at least one dumbass thing. It's a shame that it was Rose, but thankfully it wasn't some massive continuity issue.
- It started to annoy me when they essentially rewrote the show's canon, but the saving grace was that the War Doctor didn't remember it, meaning that the motivation for the last two Doctors to be so troubled was still there. For some reason I'm actually glad that Gallifrey is (probably) okay, because the Doctor has enough **** to live with and at least this is better, even if it's only 11 who gets to know about it.
- Queen Elizabeth I bugged me but it's definitely the sort of situation 10 would get into.
- 10 and 11 interacting! The War Doctor fit really well into that and I thought their bickering was probably the best part.
- Finally getting to see 10 again!
- All the Doctors working together was really stupid story-wise but I loved it. Kinda like Journey's End, where they bring the Earth back, and on one side there's this nagging "how does this make even the slightest sense" feeling but on the other, everyone's finally feeling good and there's epic music and whatnot.
- Classic enemies! WOOH!

I loved it too! I kept expecting Rose to pop out at any moment, and that was a disappointment, but I think Billie pulled of playing the "conscious" really well. And in a way, I'm kinda glad Rose didn't appear, because I know Moffat would have really destroyed her character for me.
One of the major problems I've had with Moffat (besides the sexism and general ***-hattery, but let's just stick with the writing here) is that he tends to dump dialogue and even character continuity in favor of Action! and Running! and Omg Monsters! (like the series 7 opener, there was 40 minutes of action, the and the last 20 just felt like moffat threw in some dialogue to stitch a poorly constructed story together so there was a reason for the episode) But overall, I was pretty satisfied with the story line, and I didn't find any glaring inconsistencies, and there was enough actual story to keep me watching.

Oh, that's a good point about Rose. Moffat tends to write the same damn "spunky female sidekick" over and over, and that was definitely not Rose. No gripes against Billie Piper, of course - she did a good job. It does seem kind-of weird that the conscience imitated not Rose, but Bad Wolf Rose.
My only gripe in terms of the storyline itself, and one potential inconsistency:
If Gallifrey wasn't time-locked through the Moment but rather frozen in the painting, then what happened with Rassilon in The End of Time? Did he just conveniently forget about the fact that Gallifrey wasn't doomed? And the convergence of the Doctors? Is that rewritten now? Or are we supposed to accept the idea that the time lock was actually the frozen painting and not its previous description?
Still that's nitpicking.

Okay, I really enjoyed it and all (saw it at the cinema ), but the first thing fiancé and I said to each other after it was over was "so, they're still locked in that room with the zygons talking it out?". That storyline had better get resolved because otherwise it's gonna bug the crap outta me.

My favorite part of the 50th was the bunny in the forest. Obvs.
But as much as I love the bunny they used in the scene, I kinda wish they'd used one that actually looked like a wild rabbit or hare.

My cable company is showing a bunch of Doctor Who shows starting with the 9th doctor. I'm on the 10th doctor now, and I've noticed that they borrow ideas from other shows and stories. For example, in the devil/black hole episode, the alien miners looks a lot like D&D mind Flayers and/or Cthulu.
In another episode, they had an absorption alien that reminded me a lot of "fat *******" from Austin Powers, and in that same episode, they made of fun their fans, just like X files did in one of their shows. I've seen a few more examples that I can't think of right now.
In any case, I'm enjoying the "modern" Doctor Who. The last time I watched the show, the scarf guy with curly hair was playing the doctor. I've noticed that they make an effort to make the show appeal to women, not just male Sci-Fi geeks.
Also, why is there so much dislike for the 9th doctor?
