TV & Film Breaking Bad

okay, that was all well and good and totally epic, yay for Jesse getting his revenge on Todd and surviving the series and I was gripped the whole way through and it was brilliant, but I have one VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION that did not get answered.

What happened to Huell?! Is he still sat in that safe house? He's pretty much my favourite ever.

Word has it he's lost a whole lotta weight as after Hank bit it as no one else knew about him so no food is being sent to the apartment. :p

My predictions were that Walter White killed himself.. which.. in a way, I guess he did.. o_o;; I thought Elliot and Gretchen would die, too, along with Todd and his family
And I thought the people who would live were-
Skyler, Jessee, Flyn, Saul, Lydia, Brock, Holly, Huel, Badger, Skinny Pete. I never thought the Vaccum repair guy would die.. I mean.. c'mon.. lol
I really enjoyed the ending, I only wish they showed what happened after. What about Brock?

Anthony Hopkins writes flattering fan letter to Bryan Cranston:

Dear Mister Cranston.

I wanted to write you this email – so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber – I take it we are both represented by UTA. Great agency.

I’ve just finished a marathon of watching “BREAKING BAD” – from episode one of the First Season – to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. [Ed note: There are in fact five seasons of Breaking Bad; this might have been wishful thinking.] (I downloaded the last season on AMAZON) A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen – ever.

I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening ******** in this business, and I’ve sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular – absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers…. every department – casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that over used word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to – would you pass on my admiration to everyone – Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada – everyone – everyone gave master classes of performance … The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

You and all the cast are the best actors I’ve ever seen.

That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It’s almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email.

Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.

Best regards,

Tony Hopkins

Internet etiquette: I don't know how long people have to say "this contains spoilers" (months, even years later?) - I have the same mindset on this that Dean Norris does. But I'll say it, this video contains spoilers. Duh. ;>

I still can't get Badfinger's Baby Blue out of my head - and it still makes me weepy. This is an incredible fan-made video featuring the song paired with Heisenberg moments.

One of my FB friends posted his speculations for the final episode the week before it aired, and someone moaned about spoilers, having just started the first season. I called her out on it. Not my responsibility to shield her from spoilers, when she's 5 (6?) years behind.

If I know someone is watching through the first time, I won't spoil when I talking to them, but it's fair game on social media.

I had someone tell me off for Harry Potter spoilers during a group conversation the other day. I mean, I know it's annoying when someone spoils something you were reading/watching, but... Harry Potter, really? I think the spoiler etiquette time on that one expired years ago.

As for Breaking Bad... I think I need to go through and watch the whole thing again. I bet it's one of those shows full of hidden references that only make sense after you've seen the whole thing, making it all way better the second time around.

I'm only just now reading HP (haven't seen the movies), but I have absolutely zero expectations for people not spoiling me.

Oooh, enjoy :) Fiance's mum is reading them now, and she texts me to talk about them because she knows they're my favourite and I completely understand why she's so obsessed ;)

I'd say it was the best drama series I've seen since 'I, Claudius', in that it was consistently good, with complex characterisation, and it ended with proper closure and not in a big cop-out.

Started watching season 2 the other night. In one of the shots, in one of the scenes, in one of the episodes, gaffers tape makes an appearance:

Did I finish "Breaking Bad", just finished s5e8 (eighth episode of season five), or does Netflix not have all of season 5?

I finally downloaded the final 8 episodes after I got tired of waiting for Netflix to post them.

That episode where Jesse found out about the ricin cigarette was intense. Wow. Not many TV shows are able to get that sort of emotional reaction from me.

Now that I've seen them all, I want to watch all of the "behind the scenes" stuff that's available. I'm really interested in the Walter/Jesse relationship.

My sources inform me that Netflix will have the remaining Breaking Bad episodes on 2/24. I either need to beat Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition -- my latest drug of choice -- by then, or tire of it just long enough to marathon eight episodes.
