I'm going to kick start this thread with
9 of the Best Nature Documentaries to Watch on Earth Day


This article has some great suggestions. No reason to just watch them on Earth Day.
These films are on Netflix or Amazon.
But there are some other films on Smithsonian and the BBC. I'll add those later, in the meantime feel free to add your favorites.
 
Tending the Wild and Tending Nature are great documentaries to watch about native Calfornia, I recommend them to everyone. I saw the fire science episode at the Autry museum in LA and were recommended the rest both as an undergrad and a grad student:

Some of the episodes of Lost LA talk about the underlying ecosystems and natural parts of Los Angeles, including the Griffith Park episode:
