Nutrition & Diet Arsenic in rice

It scares me that arsenic is in everything. Wtf, I didn't know I was eating and drinking aresenic everyday
I've been eating rice every day for the last few days too :o

This annoys me so much...I love rice and eat a ton of it. :(

"Food is a major source of arsenic in the American diet, as the chemical is still used in feed for poultry and occasionally hogs to prevent disease. Waste from those animals can contaminate fields when it is used as fertilizer."

What about chicken and pork?

It's almost funny the US has higher levels than India and Thailand. Maybe I should buy it from the Asian market instead of the bulk organic bins?

I heard this on the radio today. The two suggestions were to vary your diet so you aren't eating rice every day, and to cook rice in a 6:1 ratio, and drain off the excess water.

We don't eat rice very often, so I'm not too concerned.

Will this make you think twice about rice? (check out my hip poetry there)
You're a poet, But you don't know it, But your feet show it--they're Long fellows. :p

About the rice, I'm sick and fricking tired of animal waste from farms polluting our food supply! The spinach scare, etc.

"Waste from those animals can contaminate fields when it is used as fertilizer." Disgusting.

switched over to quinoa and stopped eating rice altogether back in May. it's a great alternative substitute.

There's probably arsenic in quinoa, too.

Well, there's probably SOMETHING unsavory sneaking around in the quinoa supply. Just saying. This ain't the Jurassic era. I don't know if any kind of modern food supply is safe. We all take chances tempting fate just going about our daily lives.

I love rice too much to want to stop eating it. :(
